Windows 10: Blank area in Word doc

I use the Word document program from Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016 and often switch between looking at a document to looking at the Internet. Then, when I go back to Word the area I was looking at it is blank and I have to scroll upwards a little way to make the text show up again. Could it be because Im usually at the end of page 33 and so the document is just rather long?

many thanks for responding and trying to help me. the problem is that all of the docs in various folders that were word docs are no longer word docs - they only open on wordpad (and so parts of the docs cannot be seen). does anyone know why that would
happen?

I actually don't know if I have a current subscription to office.

Word has gone after reinstalling Windows 10 and word docs won't open

Thanks for the suggestions. Yes I did check for updates and updated all that was availbale. Office/Word did not appear.

There was no error message when I tried to open my docs (which showed as blanks at first) but word pad was the only program on offer when I tried to open my word docs but this didn't work either (just symbols appeared).

I checked the article you suggested. It offered me Office AT $148.

As a "getaround" I downloaded Libre Office from Linux and it opens my word docs just fine, but this does not solve my problem of course.

Any other suggestions would be welome.

If you right click on one of the doc files & choose open with is Word listed?

Do you have a current subscription to Office?
