  2. Stop Windows 10 Update Assistant from running

    This has to be disabled in task scheduler and I go a step further and block it with the firewall also. Here is the script that I used in my environment:

    ********************************************

    @echo off

    REM Stop Update Assistant if running

    taskkill -f -im UpdateAssistant.exe

    taskkill -f -im UpdateAssistantCheck.exe

    taskkill -f -im Windows10Upgrade.exe

    taskkill -f -im Windows10UpgraderApp.exe

    REM Block Update Assistant with Windows Firewall

    netsh advfirewall firewall delete rule name="Windows 10 Update Assistant" dir=in

    Simply put i like the start menu that came with the original win10, ive seen the one in creators update and i dont want it, as for ransomware i dont download shady exe files and havent gotten a virus in years, please dont recomend classic shell unless it can give me the original win10 start menu.

    You get the full app list which i dont wanna see, There is some option that disables that but also disable the metro tiles which i want. i think you can remove the apps one by one so the full list isnt so full but no thanks.

    If i can get the start menu without the full app list and keep the tiles at the same time id be happy to upgrade right away.

    The Settings to do that are available in Creators. You can set it up that way in Settings>Personalization>Start.

    Here, my Windows is in Spanish but Setting 3 and 4 from the top down are the Settings you need to enable to get what you want. In my case, the "Show most used Apps" Setting is grayed because I also disable a Privacy setting that has to be enabled for that setting to be available.
