Windows 10: blocked apps

I have downloaded the Kodi Open Source Entertainment App, then I see a pop up saying Microsoft has blocked some content.

I have taken the necessary steps to protect my computer from threats.

My question is: When did Microsoft begin to tell consumers what apps they are allowed to use. The Kodi app is in the Microsoft Store

and so I assume it isn't illegal. Do consumers not have the ability any longer to choose apps that might be of benefit or that hey just enjoy?

I strongly disagree with Microsoft blocking some content that I am legally entitled to use. Does Microsoft retain the rights to tell me what I can download if it is perfectly legal or is there a financial reason? How can you get away with censoring or editing my choices? Is it because I use your software and Browser. Does Apple also protrude into a person on line choices.


I will have to research other software and browsers before I leave Microsoft. I want to ensure I am not going parallel. I just do not feel comfortable with a company overriding my perfectly legal decisions.

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps:

• Log in to Manage Your Microsoft Account in One Place using your Microsoft Email account.
• Find the user that is correspond to the computer account on the Windows that you are having issue with.
• Click on "App Restrictions".
• Under App Restrictions, click on "App list".
• Here, you can Allow or Block the Apps/Games that you want.

Windows Firewall blocks App Store from downloading new apps

Hi,

Let's try to check if the app store you're referring to if it's really blocked by Windows Firewall. See these steps:

• Open Windows Firewall from the taskbar >
  Firewall & network protection > Allow an app through firewall.
• A new window will show up containing the list of the apps that ca be allowed through Firewall.
• Look for the app you want to be accessed, and make sure that the Domain, Private and Public are ticked. That would allow the app store to be accessed.

Family Safety App Blocking Not Working

Hi Mike,

Let's make sure that the apps you mentioned are properly blocked to ensure that your kids will not be able to access it. To do that , follow the steps below:

• Log in to your Family Safety account.
• Click App, games & media.
• Toggle on the Block inappropriate apps and games option.
• Under Limit apps, games, and media from Store, click the drop-down list to adjust the restriction.
• In the Blocked apps & games list, check if Google Chrome is included.

Let us know if your child is still able to do some search even though it's already blocked so we can further assist you.
