Blocked Ports in Firewall but TCPView says they're still in use.

Blocked a range of ports via my Firewall but TCPView says they're still being used to connect to the network.

What is causing this and is there a way to configure the Firewall to automatically block specific ports regardless of protocol, stateless/stateful nature and other invasive networking technologies that override Firewall settings that have a clear purpose?

    Much appreciated.

    :)

  2. How to properly configure a firewall to work with OVI Suite ?

Thank you SebastianJ?. Does TCPView list witch applications are accessing the internet ? Because my firewall is a software firewall that grants applications and not ports.

  3. How to properly configure a firewall to work with OVI Suite ?

I don't know exactly which ports are used, but if I were in your place, I would do the following:

    1. Disable Firewall

    2. Launch TCPView

    3. Open NOS and do everything I need to do

    4. Open all ports used by NOS

    5. Enable firewall

    6. Check if everything is working properly

    I hope this helps.

    Best,

    Sebastian.

A screen would help, you might be seeing loopback connections.

Blocking ports means nothing from the outside can enter via those ports but if an internal programme opens the ports then they are open to that software

So a program that is set by the access list of the Firewall to 'allowed' overrides specifically blocked ports?

If you only block ports in then software can open them out you need to block in and out
