    blocking all sites except whitelisted

for my children, i used a file that someone uploaded on the site, that i understood blocked all internet sites, all browsers, and the specific user, was still able to use dropbox, onedrive apps, as well as outlook. i can upload this small registry file if needed
i understood it had something to do with the proxy (i am not knowledgeable in this area)
recently after an outlook 2019 update, outlook would get hung up, seemingly searching for a connection to a webpage or the sort

in short what i am searching for, is a way to block all websites, except being able to use microsoft outlook 2019, the rest are cherries on top, not really needed
if able as well, to be able to login to a gmail account on a website as well

any information would be greatly appreciated

    :)

Limit IE 11 to a whitelist while still permitting other browsers to access all sites

As far as I can see, there is no official, supported way to set up a "site whitelist" in Internet Explorer, i.e. to restrict IE to a specific list of sites. You can cook up something yourself, but you'll have to decide whether that is worth the hassle for you.

    • One option is to create a makeshift whitelist using a proxy auto-configuration (PAC) file. The idea is basically to set up a proxy configuration that redirects all non-whitelisted sites to localhost, effectively blocking them. See e.g. Web Site Whitelisting in Microsoft Internet Explorer for detailed instructions.
    • Another option would be to somewhat hide IE, by removing it from the Start Menu and the Taskbar. Instead, add Start Menu entries to launch IE to a specific site, one for each site that needs IE. That way users are discouraged (though not prevented) from using IE for regular browsing, but can still use it for the sites where it's necessary.

Ultimately, there will probably be no foolproof technical solution. The best approach will probably be to inform your users, just as in your question, that use of IE is discouraged, and that it will be removed once all the legacy applications have been converted (you are working on this, aren't you?).

Applied for whitelist to Windows 10 Mobile Phones (Lumia 930 & 950 using Intune via SCCM). After the whitelist is deployed the Update for "Block & Filter" can not be installed

Original title: Windows 10 Mobile "Block & Filter" Product ID

    Hi there,

i applied a whitelist to our Windows 10 Mobile Phones (Lumia 930 & 950 using Intune via SCCM). After the whitelist is deployed the Update for "Block & Filter" can not be installed. So i want to add the Product ID for Block & Filter to the whitelist. But
the Product ID is nowhere to find. Not in the
    MS included apps list
    and nowhere else.

Can someone give me the ID for this update?

How do I whitelist addresses blocked by Windows Defender Firewall?

My Windows 10 is blocking Internet access to certain Web sites. Every time this happens, a notification about "virus & threat protection connection blocked" notification pops up. If I disable WDFW, I could get to the destinations in question.

I don't want to have to repeat the process every time, so I checked the WDFW outbound and inbound rules as well as the HOST file. The Web sites are not on their lists. From where or on what then is WDFW basing its action? From MS or 3rd-party sources? Most importantly, how do I whitelist the addresses (because I don't want to disable the FW)? I tried creating outbound rules in WDFW allowing access to the IP addresses, no go.
