    I had to replace some desktop parts on a custom computer. Mainly the power supply, a hard drive and cd/dvdrom.

    I replaced the hard driver with an older harddrive from a previous build in the mean time. It came loaded with Windows 7, working perfectly fine. I had a windows 10 pass key, so I figured I should upgrade.

    Went to the windows website and used the windows 10 media tool and received an error "We couldn't install windows 10. OxC1900101-0z20017. The installation failed in Safe_Os phase with an error during BOOT operation.

    Called Tech Support and an agent remotely took over my computer and went to the windows site on chrome, switched the browser viewing to Mac style and did a hard download of the Media Tool, I entered my pass key and the download seemed to work. D/c front the call and walked away to let it install. I came back an hour later with a blue screen.

    Now turning off my computer and turning it back on I have 2 options. 1. Start windows normally which leads to a blue screen or 2. Windows recover which tells me I need the recovery disk. No safe mode available.

    Called back to windows tech and another agent remotely accessed my laptop and helped me download a Windows 10 recovery iso and burned it on a DVDR, and instructed me to change my BIOS to run the DVDR first. They gave me instructions to do a clean install. And select the 317gb drive to format, then install. And initially it seemed to work. So I disconnected the call. An hour later I'm stuck at a Black screen with a blue windows logo with 4 dots in a circle on the bottom of the screen, unmoving. Stuck.

    Calling back AGAIN, another agent attempted to help me further with no avail, and scheduled an appointment 2 days out with a Level 2 tech.

    I'm not sure what to do at this point. I started with a perfectly fine version of windows 7, but now I cant even recover that.

    Before we proceed I would like you to answer the following question:

    • could you please mention the exact error message that you are getting?
    The issue might occur due to Viruses, or something changing/deleting in Registry Files, a failure during Bootup, or a corrupt file which could be due to age of a computer or viruses or somebody tampering with files.
