Windows 10: Blue Screen Critical Process Died - When using Excel Macros - XLSTART / PERSONAL.XLSB Files...

I didn't know that PERSONAL.XLSB and the XLSTART Folders were default folders that opened automatically with excel.


I moved Personal.xlsb and the XLStart folder around, which I'm positive, is triggering the BSOD. I tried putting them back in place, but every attempt triggers a BSOD critical process died.


The Personal workbook is not corrupted because the files and macros work fine in Excel on my Macbook.


TRIED:

1. Excel Default Folders - Removed additional folders I added

1a. Removed any folder location modifications

3. Uninstalled Windows Insider Edition (Went to previous editions)

a. Reinstalled Office 365

b. Repaired Office - Quick Repair

4. Re-installed Windows Update with new updates (1903)?

a. Reinstalled Office 365

b. Repaired Office - Quick Repair

5. Reinstalling doesn't put the Trusted Locations back to default.

6. Kaspersky full scan

7. SCF Scan now - nothing wrong (took 10 mins?)

8. Microsoft Support: Image restore? Something in CMD, which took 30 minutes?

- Support representative said there were no corrupt files or registry.


NOW:

I cleared C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\XLSTART and removed the Personal.xlsb file today. I haven't had a BSOD, yet...

Blue Screen: CRITICAL PROCESS DIED

Hello!

On Feb 11, 2018 suddenly, I got a blue screen stating that my PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. I was directed to visit "windows.com/stopcode", reporting: CRITICAL PROCESS DIED.

I have not installed any applications nor connected any hardware. It might have happened after an auto update of Intel Driver ( I am not sure : but this was the last auto update )!

I do not get the Blue Screen when I am offline. I have gone through all the following steps:

• Checked for updates
  
• Updated drivers
  
• Scanned device performance and health
  
• Ran Windows Defender Offline
• Turned fast startup on or off

All of these steps were conducted successfully and had no problems of any sort reported.

I did not have any new software for removal. Neither I had any external hardware to remove.

I even deleted all the files in Windows/SoftwareDistribution.

Still was getting the following (only when I am connected to the Internet)





Eventually, I decided to STOP
all auto updates. I did that through "Services.msn" through "windows update" and also from the Control Panel, through "Systems" (Advanced System Settings). Since then, I can work peacefully online.

Any additional suggestions to stop this screen from popping up???
