Blue spinning pin wheel, program not responding?

    The chkdsk /x /f /r C: was unremarkable.
HD Tune is fine as a diagnostic tool (free).
The event logs displayed the drive has a bad block.
HD Tune should be run on all drives to see which drive has the bad block.
The BSOD information was found when the files were viewed and having dump files is preferred as they can provide more useful information.
Problems related to the operating system were nearly eliminated with the in place upgrade.
Problems could remain with the registry.
Most likely the spinning wheel is related to third party software.
That can be worked up once the computer is tuned up (no longer having BSOD whether they are software or hardware related).
When available please update the progress each of the steps in post #13.
For Windows driver verifier please review the 3 methods to turn off or recover from the tool using the Windows advanced troubleshooting menu.
Once drive testing, and RAM testing has been completed the misbehaving drivers can be found with Windows driver verifier. Then with the computer less likely to have a BSOD in the middle of a test the CPU and GPU testing can be performed.

I still have a large MEMORY.DMP in C:\Windows, Is that of any use? I'm not sure why I'm missing mini dumps, maybe I did delete them in CCleaner...

Was there any indication of what hardware the BSOD was related to? I am wondering if it is memory hence the mem test? How many times had this BSOD occurred?

I would imagine the Windows.old folder is not going to be of any use in the continued troubleshooting and can be deleted?

Here the HD Tune tests on the Samsung 850 EVO 250GB (OS drive) I'm about to uninstall AI Suite next, will have to get used to motherboard fan control but that is a nice feature on these newer Asus boards. Why does Afterburner have to go? It's my favorite!

I did receive a BSOD yesterday and I think this was before I did the repair upgrade:

D: (storage/gaming drive) has the bad block, I already know this because HWiNFO detects it.

For all steps please post images of the test results into the thread (whether known or not known) so that results can be viewed and referred to as needed.
Software that is known to be causes/sources of BSOD are removed during the troubleshooting process.
The fewer the confounding factors the better during the troubleshooting process.
For the drive with the bad block please run the HD Tune test overnight so that the results are available in the thread.
Whenever there is a BSOD please run the beta log collector and post results into the thread for troubleshooting.
For memory dumps they may take a long time to upload and download so we use mini dumps. If the mini dumps do not report misbehaving drivers then we may use the memory dumps. At this time with no dump files it would be good to have the memory dump. If it is < then 1 Gb or perhaps 1.5 GB, zip it and post it into the thread.

The error test on D: has almost completed so results soon. I have attached an updated log collector, will work on memory dump upload soon.

I take the C: HD Tune tests were unremarkable?

This is the memory dump > please find it using file explorer (c:\windows\memory.dmp) > save to desktop > zip > post into the thread

    C:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMPCreation date: 04/01/2018 16:01:45Size on disk: 825 MB

The HD Tune drive test was ok. If there are notable problems I'll report them into the thread so that you will know.
Samusng has software that can be run on some of their drives. See if the software can be run on the Samsung drives and post the images into the thread.

Post in place upgrade repair please post a new image into the thread for startup and recovery system failure.

The RAM on the computer is currently mismatched (different SKU).
How come the 8GB RAM was changed to the 4B RAM?

It would be great to get this sorted before the Spring update drops and I will likely clean install then. Really appreciate your help so far. *Smile

Open file explorer > this PC > C: > in the right upper corner search for: C:\windows\memory.dmp > save to desktop > zip > post into the thread for debugging

The RAM modules are OK. Ordinarily they can be followed in sequence in the thread. The PM had been opened and sorry that another thread had been opened in the meantime so everything is good.
