Windows 10: Bluetooth Driver Gone

Hey everyone,

I was using my bluetooth mouse yesterday night when suddenly it disconnected. I thought it was simply the mouse being faulty, but upon further inspection when i went to the Bluetooth page in settings it said that Bluetooth was turned off. The toggle button for on and off is missing so I went to the device manager and saw that the Bluetooth driver was completely missing. Up until last night my bluetooth was working fine so i'm lost. I ran the trouble shooter and it said that I didn't have bluetooth compatibility and to install it with an external device.


How should I proceed?

• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

Try these procedures:

Before proceeding, we need more information to help you better.

Did you checked whether the Bluetooth device is listed under hidden devices in Device manager?

Have you checked whether the Bluetooth driver is listed under installed programs under Programs and features? (As you have reinstalled the Bluetooth.)

Note:

In device manager, click on "view" tab and select "show hidden devices" and check whether Bluetooth device/driver is listed.

To check the drivers installed in Programs and features, Press Windows + X keys on the keyboard and select Programs and features and check whether the Bluetooth driver is installed.

Until you get back to us with the required information, follow the below steps and check if it helps.

Step 1:

I would suggest you check if Bluetooth Support service is started.

Press Windows + R keys on the keyboard, type services.msc and press OK.

Now, find Bluetooth Support Service and start it

Double click on the Bluetooth Support Service set the startup type as Automatic.

Bluetooth's mobile phone drivers

Thank you for using Windows 10.

I would suggest you to update the Bluetooth drivers as the initial troubleshooting steps and check. Here is the steps:

• Press Windows+X key on your desktop and select
  Device Manager.
• Locate Bluetooth drivers, expand, right click and click on Update.
  

If it doesn’t help, then I would suggest you to uninstall
and re-install the Bluetooth drivers in compatibility mode. Here is the steps:

• Go to your manufacturer’s website and download the
  Driver’s setup file for your computer.
• Press Windows Key + R on your desktop screen to go to run box.
• Type devmgmt.msc and hit Enter.
• Under Driver, expand, then right click and select
  Uninstall.
• If you are prompted to Confirm then Confirm.
• Go to the location where you had saved your downloaded setup files of the drivers and
  right click, then select Properties.
• Select Compatibility Tab.
• Place a check mark next to Run this program in Compatibility mode and select the operating system accordingly from the drop down list.
• Let the driver to install and then check the functionality.
