Windows 10: Bluetooth not being detected by Windows

Hey, I've reinstalled Windows 10 on a SATA SSD which I'm now using on a Laptop with a X550JX Mobo. I previously used this SSD as a Windows Drive for my Desktop. After reinstalling Windows, I found it curious that I didn't have ASUS Smart Gesture installed by default but it was a pretty easy thing to install so I didn't give it much thought. I am now unable to use Bluetooth, which I was previously able to use with the Laptop's original HDD, since Troubleshooting now says the device doesn't have Bluetooth capabilities. The Realtek driver provided by ASUS for this motherboard also says it can't find any Bluetooth device connected.

Bottom line is, I think that because the SSD was used with Windows for a Desktop which didn't have Bluetooth, when I "upgraded" the OS it seems to think it's still connected to a Desktop. Any ideas to how I might solve this issue and regain the ability to use Bluetooth again on this device? I'd like to avoid installing a fresh Windows.

My computer specs are as listed in the profile. I think all of you guys are correct. I don't have built-in Bluetooth in mobo.

I contacted skull candy headphones and thy have told me if I do not have built-in Bluetooth, I would need a dongle which supports at least a2dp. I do not know what the heck that means. I have a feeling I would need more than a cheap dongle.

Anyone suggest some a2dp adapters. I searched but don't know what a2dp is so couldn't make a decision

Edit: This is a dongle with old BT version I see now, but I'm sure you can find a Asus BT4.0 version.

@aasim1111 I have this one, it doesn't show that it supports A2DP in the specs but I think it'll work, otherwise send a mail to Asus and ask.

Windows can't detect bluetooth headphones

I also had the same issue, it was quite irritating. The audio technica bluetooth device was detected by iphone and samsung phones but when I search with my laptop ( windows 10) it was not discoverable. The device was not showing in the bluetooth list of
discoverable devices. Pressed the headphone switch for long period but the laptop couldnot detect it. Did all the setting changes, changed all the options and updated all the drivers but still it was not detected.

I read somewhere that bluetooth uses something which is common with the wifi so I made sure that the wifi was enabled, airplane made was off. Next disconnected the laptop from the internet wifi connection. Once the laptop wifi was disconnected, it search
the bluetooth headset under 'Bluetooth & other device' and the device was listed. Previously when the laptop wifi was connected to the router, the bluetooth headset was not detected but after disconnecting from the router it was detected.

Steps:

1. Airplane mode: OFF

2. Wifi ON but not connected to any device

3. bluetooth ON

4. Search for the device
