Windows 10: Bluetooth not working

When I woke up today and opened my laptop I noticed that my bluetooth wasn't working. This wasn't after an update - it had just disappeared. I ran the troubleshooter and it said that my laptop isnt compatible with bluetooth, which was a lie because I was literally using my bluetooth earbuds yesterday with my laptop and they worked perfectly fine.


So I looked it up, I uninstalled the bluetooth things in the device manager, including the Qualcomm Atheros bluetooth adapter. I dont think it was the smartest decision, but I had just woken up and my brain wasnt working well yet. That resulted in, even after restarting my PC, bluetooth not showing up in my device manager at all.


However, I told myself 'no biggie' and searched up the drivers for my laptop model ASUS Viviobook X512DA and downloaded the bluetooth driver. After finishing the setup, I looked into my device manager and the bluetooth devices still arent there.


Now, I have officially ran out of ideas to get my bluetooth working again. I have literally spent 30 mins trying to get this thing to work but to no avail. i need to get this working again soon because i use my laptop for school too.

Can't get Bluetooth working...

The only thing i can think of to fix if it isnt recognised by linux is the following:

Firstly you have to find out what chipset your bluetooth dongle uses.
Secondly i think your going to have to basically compile your own kernel and include the module for the chipset that your bluetooth dongle uses.
Thirdly depending on if you add it to the kernel or as like built in you will have to add the name of the module to a config file which is used when you boot linux.

If the kernel doesnt have support for your bluetooth dongle then you can either try and find a different copy of the kernel which does or try and find the driver for it.

To recompile your own kernel however requires a whole guide itself , plus different linux distro's will have different kernels with different options and slightly different config files.

Only thing i can suggest is going to www.gentoo.org and reading through their handbook, its basically step by step setting up linux manually, in the handbook there is a page or two on recompiling your kernel for your particular configuration.

 

Bluetooth not working on ASUS laptop

• Have you tried disabling and enabling the Bluetooth using the Control Panel? (Not turning off and on)
• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

In the meantime, we suggest that you run the Bluetooth troubleshooter by:

• Select the Start button, then select Settings > Update & security > Troubleshoot.
• Under Find and fix other problems, select Bluetooth > Run the troubleshooter.

bluetooth headphones

setting up win10 Bluetooth and my Bluetooth headphones work fine ,but every time I reconnect the headphones I have to delete them from Bluetooth settings and let win10 pickup the headphones again ,before they will pair ,then win10 want to reboot to add the headphones ,I reboot and they work fine ,but next time I plug the headphone in again they will not pair ,don't even get an option to pair till I delete the head phones from the list ,, any suggestions ,, thank
