Hotel access: a Tale of 2 PCs

I travel for work. I use two computers in hotel rooms. One computer usually connects to the Internet immediately and the hotel redirect/interstitial page comes up immediately. the other computer has great difficulty both connecting to the hotel wifi
and getting the redirect. Both are Windows 10 computers. What would make their access/connectivity different? What should I look for? It feels like they talk to the hotel router differently or its a DNS problem or something but I don't know why that would
be for only one of my computers. Of even if that's it. Troubleshotting tells me various things: the last round just said something like "trouble with router". Sometimes the one that has difficulty works fine in hotel and other public networks, often it does
not. It works perfectly fine at my home network. Thoughts?

 

connecting to hotel wifi

While on holiday in a hotel, my husband connected to hotel wifi on his windows 7 phone without a hitch. I was unable to connect on my windows10 phone. It kept asking me to sign in with user name and password, which of course I could not do. (I had correctly
entered the passcode). It also suggested I go to the router to connect, which again, I could not do in a hotel.

The previous week we had stayed in a holiday let, and I was able to sign into their wifi ok.

can someone tell me why my w10 phone would not connect in the hotel?
