Windows 10: Boot disc won't load, hardware issue?

And, I've never heard of a motherboard needing a special bios to run a 32bit operating system.... especially since Product Keys for Windows 8 or 10 that might be stored in the bios will work for either the 32bit or 64bit architecture, so long as the version (pro, home, etc) are the same.

 

Believe some where saying the board had more to do with it then BIOS.

 

MB is governed by BIOS, in this case MB and BIOS are same thing.

 

@Matt26; what happened, could you install the 32 bit version?
I just think we have to face the fact that nobody can explain why our boards don't boot the 64 bit version from a DVD or USB.

 

Sorry, not ignoring the posts, in the process of getting the 32 bit boot disc.

I thought I could just download it from my 64 bit Windows 10 installation, nope. Microsoft's download tool detects what bit you're using and won't allow a 32 bit download.

So I decided to reinstall Windows 8 32 bit just to get the ISO.

Slightly frustrating but not all that time consuming.

Not true at all. There is a 32bit and a 64bit Media Creation Tool - and you have to run the program that matches the bit level of your OS, but both tools will let you download 32bit Windows 10 ISO, 64bit Windows 10 ISO or a combination 32/64bit Windows 10 ISO.

 

I can't even get to the screen you attached.. I can download the 32 bit tool and as soon as run it, I get a message that my OS bit level doesn't match the bit level of the download tool, please choose the correct download tool for your OS..

 

Then download and run the 64bit Media Creation Tool if you have 64bit Windows installed.

 

My mistake, didn't realize you could get the 32 ISO with the 64 creation tool.

Nope, tried everything and gave up. I'm currently running Win7 x64 on my old rig.
When updating to Win10 the installation stops with error message that my CPU lacks some instructions required, AMD did'nt add those until later. That's why I tried a clean install 'cause I read somewhere it should be possible anyway. But then it wouldn't boot from DVD or USB. And no-one seems to be able to help. I can clean install Win10 x86 but it behaves very strange and definately not robust so I decided to stay on Win7. Running Win10 x64 on a new rig without probs.

 

I have an old Dell Dimension 9150/XPS 400 machine with Pentium D 830. Able to boot from DVD and USB but failed to install Windows 10 (x64) but Windows 10 (x86) works fine. The Pentium D missed some features required for the Windows 10 x64 version.

I used this machine to check out bad hard drive or data recovery or hardware testing only. So I don't care it is a 32 bit version.

 

so i tried the 32 bit install disc, which booted successfully, even recognizes my JBOD drive.

i started the install process, looks like it was able to copy the files to the drive, but then BSODs after reboot with whea_uncorrectable_error, which i guess can be anything from CPU voltage issues to driver conflicts.

@DoItJust, did you ever run into this error when you installed the 32 bit version of Windows 10? good catch with 32 vs 64 bit disc as well.

 

Exactly the same problem I had, at first only when I was not connected to the network, and later randomly. That's when I started to think the board was to old (even though MS wanted to upgrade to Win10 and started downloading) and eventually gave up. As I said I'm now running Win7 x64 on that rig and I've hidden KB3035583 in Windows Update.
