Windows 10: Boot/load problems

I have an extremely weird set of symptoms at this point.


A few days ago, my computer was apparently working fine, until I attempted to restart it at one point, and it got stuck at the boot screen windows icon, loading circle


Using the automatic repair function didn't help at all; it would say "starting automatic repair", then the frame of a window would flicker for an instant, then I would have a black screen and a mouse, but an otherwise unresponsive computer.


Now, if I boot the computer, it gets stuck at the loading screen for a long time hours?, but eventually proceeds to the lock screen and loads quickly from there.


Once I get to the desktop, though, things get really strange; some programs will open and run perfectly normally VLC, Chrome Browser, netflix, file explorer, others refuse to open at all steam, and still others will open partially before getting stuck in an "initializing" stage Matlab, partition manager.


I tried running Chkdsk from a bootable flash drive, but for some reason on restart it ran on my G: drive and attempts to repair that instead of my C: drive. I'm trying to do that over, but now it jumps straight to running chkdsk on G: instead of bringing up the installation screen.



My plan is to attempt further troubleshooting with the bootable disk, but that's hampered by how extremely slow everything is.

Windows 10 1709 System Restore problems...

That seems to be an attempt at Option 2 in the tutorial, which requires you to
a. Boot to a command prompt (Did you?)
b. You then seem to be mixing steps 3,4 and 5, thus your command is incorrect.

I suggest Option 1 is easier.

If you still have problems, please repost listing each specific step and saying which option from the tutorial you are using. Thanks.

 

laptop doesnt boot automatically

This is what happened.

1. Did a repair install and later disabled hibertnate in CMD.
2. Enabled legacy option ROM in BIOS.
3. After a few times startup ( i used the system in such mode for 5 days), changed boot option back to default.
4. Vola!! It boots automatically to win10 without any keypress. Tested it with many starts to confirm the same.
5. Re-enabled hibernate option using CMD and later selected Fast Startup.
6. System booted normally, without the need for any keypress.

I do not know exactly whether such steps resolved the problem or what else happened, hence cannot suggest above steps.
