    Booting into Windows, “We can’t sign into your account”


    So I messed up pretty bad. I just merged a partition with my os partition so I could have room to dual boot with Linux as well. After my computer restarted everything was working fine. I started the Linux installation from a usb drive but had to cancel it, and when I went back to my windows boot, I had to wait on “preparing windows” and when it loaded in, all my user files, desktop and application settings are gone. My applications are still present, but they have to configure for "first time" use. I keep getting the message “we can’t sign in to your account”. I tried fixing my account a few times with the option Windows gave me but still no luck. When I tried to boot from my nvme m.2 drive with the os on it, it booted into the Linux install screen. I restarted, unplugged the usb, and tried booting again. It said something along the lines of “disk not found”. I tried following the guide on the Microsoft forums by booting in and out of safe mode, but that didn’t work. I tried to find startup repair, but the only options I’m getting are “restart” and “configure uefi settings”. I need this pc for school and I would infinitely appreciate some help

    Hi Gloria,

    The error code that your are getting when adding an account is usually caused by the following:

    • Your phone has an incorrect date and time set.
    • You do not have a data connection.
    • Your phone is in a "bad state."
