Windows 10: Brand new laptop slower than old one

Read the thread properly in particular post 7 where I stated that looks like the 6GB, remember the OP thought he should have had 8GB.

 

Settings will show the total installed memory on your system then show how much is only used.

My 2014 AMD laptop is fine, even with 4GB (thanks to superfetch)

 

Sorry clam1952 I misread that peace. I see now that Lenovo state it should have 4 GB soldered + 4GB DIM DDR4 RAM:

Yeah I just checked on the RAM situation. 17" models (like mine) come with only 6GB, while 15's come with 8. .......

 

After doing clean install, mine seems a bit faster now, but Its using 56% of 3.9GB available of ram, will upgrade it soon to 8GB. CPU needs to be faster, 1.6 GHz with a 2.16 GHz max not cutting it.

 

For me, your AMD A10 is way better than that i3... A system that could run better that your current A10 would be an A12 or an AMD FX at least, or, if you want an intel, and i5 would be faster than your A10...

Also, I would avoid those intel HD integrated graphics, those GPUs are horrible.

In my case, AMD does it's job, I can multitask, do my design work and turn hardware aceleration on for many stuff, it even doesn0t heat that much (like older AMD's used to do)

Ah, I would go for something beyond 6 GB RAM... also, check your startup items, I-m asuming you have a lot of stuff sitting there using a lot of RAM...

 

If you're talking to me, you might read through the thread before telling me what to stay away from and what to get. But if you did read through the thread, then you must be talking to someone else (hard to know without quoting whoever you're replying to), but not sure who?

 

Modern notebook GPU's consume more RAM... Dunno why they are released so poorly... add RAM and you'll be fine.
