Windows 10: BRIGHTNESS and HDMI port not working on HP 250 G6 Notebook PC

On my laptop, the HP 250 G6 Notebook PC has not been able to adjust screen brightness for a long time, and can not connect the monitor to a laptop through the HDMI slot, but I have tried the update display adapter ( which is Microsoft basic display adapter) and monitor but nothing changes. Please tell me how to fix it, thank you.

HDMI port not working


Just a thought: I was recently given a nice 27" ASUS monitor [in lieu of having to move it 2000 Miles] that has VGA, DVI, DisplayPort and HDMI inputs. I do have to use the monitor's Menu buttons to choose which port is to be used. It was quite handy when having to work on a Notebook that was dropped breaking the screen and having only an HDMI port for an external monitor. The HDMI port replaced the VGA port found on a number of Notebooks that can attach a projector or monitor. Just more of technology marching on.

 

HDMI Port Stopped Working


I generally use a second monitor via an HDMI cable while working. However, it stopped working today.

I checked these:

• Windows cannot detect a second monitor when HDMI cable is connected to the second monitor.
• HDMI cable which I use works if another device is connected to the second monitor.
• My computer detects my HDMI-to-VGA converter through HDMI port.

My computer runs Windows 10 Home with latest updates installed.

I suspect this is due to a driver error. How can I fix this problem?
