Windows 10: Brightness Slider Gone - Windows 10

I found a similar problem from a year ago, but there was not a solution besides downloading an app. I really don't want to do this.


A few weeks ago, my computer was forced to do an automatic update to windows 10. One of the many side effects with this latest update is the brightness slider disappeared from my taskbar. It used to sit happily within the battery life icon, but now it is no more.


What happened Microsoft? I would really like my screen brightness slider back.


I updated my display device driver and it made my icons fuzzy. Fixed that, but still no brightness slider. I don't have a "Roll Back" option under the driver unless it is hidden somewhere not easily reached.


Any thoughts on this?

Okay, so I always used to have the brightness slider on my computer. Im not an idiot, I know how brightness on the desktop and my screen both work- as I said it is IMPERATIVE that I can change my windows screen using the brightness slider.....

Yes the most recent update of windows 10 you guys have been sprouting

• What is the make and model of your computer?

I dont know. Its custom made to my photography and it has not been a drama - EVER

• Which version/build of Windows 10 are you using?

I assume the latest as I have had had 5 technicians stuff around with my computer with 5 hours last night and I STILL HAVE NO RESOLUTION

not only 25% step is a problem. As in Windows 8.1 i need a slider to reduce brightness in my surface 3. It was very helpful when i take tablet at night after day use with 50% brightness. Now i must break my eyes when switching 50% to 75 then to 100. Please
