Windows 10: brother HL-2170w printer

after downgrading from windows 7 to windows 10 my printer will not work. I removed all drivers re-installed several times, no good. machine will not recognize printer with or without drivers.

Is there a solution for this? I tried the printer on another machine on the network that was also downgraded to windows 10, it will not run there either.

Brother driver update for Brother HL-2170W

It's not that the same driver is being offered repeatedly.

The driver "Brother driver update for Brother HL-2170W" has been installed/updated 26 times in the past 3 days. I don't think Brother or Microsoft are cranking out updates every few hours. I'd like to know how to fix or put a stop to this.

This is happening on my machine running Windows 10 Version 1703, OS Build 15063.540

what driver do I use as a substitute for Brother HL-5280DW printer, in windows list of brother printer drivers?

 

Windows 10 Keeps trying to install Same Printer updates

Control Panel>Troubleshooting>System & Security>Fix Problems With Windows Update did not find any problem. Devices and Printers shows my Brother HL-2170W but the Device Manager does not have an entry for printers. It has an entry for Print queues and the
Brother Printer is not on it... Meanwhile the Brother printer install fails. The driver it is trying to install is dated 12/16/2012. I do have some version of the printer driver installed. The properties under Devices and Printers says "Brother Laser Leg Type1
Class Driver" yet the drop down on the Advanced tab also lists Brother HL-2170W and Brother HL-2170 series. The device is HL2170W Ver.1.00 en-US.
