BSOD after fresh Win 10 install

Was having various issues with BSOD's for a couple weeks previously, and it all seemed point to being driver related so I reinstalled Win 10 from scratch. After reinstalling, I am having new BSOD's seemingly at random with dxgmms2.sys. Would love to know what I managed to break windows again to cause so many issues.

    :)

  3. Blue screen of death (BSoD) error 0xc000021a windows10

Same with my Win 10 through free update. Was great for a week or so and then repeated BsoD on boot up. I believe a video driver was the culprit.

I've UN-installed all vid drivers and re-installed the NVidia drivers fresh with win 10 and so far, all seems well...

Knock on wood! Ouch! That's my head! ;o)

    Adam

    UPDATE:

UPDATING MY NVIDIA VIDEO DRIVERS APPEARS TO HAVE SOLVED BSOD ISSUE.

Even though I had updated drivers before I updated to Win 10, I had to REINSTALL these video drivers after I updated the system to WIN 10 and have had no Blue Screen OD issues since.

Go to your video card manufacturer website and download and reinstall the latest video drivers for your video card, specifically for Win 10 (or the latest drivers available).

Should fix your BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) problem.

BSOD after fresh Win 10 install

    Hi ThyMrMan ,

    Welcome to the BSOD forum.

There was one minidump file and the misbehaving driver was the Nvidia graphics card driver.

    1) Make sure that there is no over clocking while troubleshooting.Sometimes there are problems in the bios that produce bsod.
    2) To ensure that there are no improper bios settings please reset the bios.
Sometimes there can be failure to boot after resetting the bios.

So please make sure your files are backed up.

    3) Please make a backup image with Macrium:
Macrium Software | Macrium Reflect Free: Macrium Software | Your image is everything
    4) And please create a restore point. How to Clear Your Computers CMOS to Reset BIOS Settings:

3 Ways to Reset Your BIOS - wikiHow

Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:

    1) winver (in the pop up about windows > view your windows version and build > type this information into the thread)

    2) sfc /scannow

    3) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

    4) chkdsk /scan

When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on copy > paste into the thread

    10) Uninstall all Nvidia drivers/softwareThe best way to do this is to uninstall everything of Nvidia using Display Driver Uninstaller and install new drivers from from the Asus website. When you do this enter the computer's serial or product number and operating system and view computer manufacturer approved drivers.
In case there is not a suitable driver then use the Nvidia web site: NVIDIA
When you do this be sure the "clean install" box is checked and only install the Graphics driver and the PhysX driver.Display Driver Uninstaller Download version 17.0.6.7: Official Display Driver Uninstaller DDU Download

    11) Turn off Windows fast startup:

After doing everything in the second post, and not having any issues. I decided to run the verifier program, and had a near immediate crash.
At this moment the bios is at default settings with the xmp profile enabled. No other overclocking or changes to the bios have been done.

The windows driver veririer dump displays 2 misbehaving drivers:
    iaStorA.sys
    LGBusEnum.sys

Can you find another keyboard to use during the troubleshooting?

    Perform the following steps:
    1) find a replacement driver for LGBusEnum.sys using: the Asus web site (using the computers serial or product number and the operating system). If there is not a suitable computer manufacturer approved driver then use: Logitech Support + Downloads
    2) download the driver to the desktop
    3) using device manger uninstall: LGBusEnum.sys
    4) using files explorer search for: LGBusEnum.sys to make sure that it has been uninstalled
    5) reinstall LGBusEnum.sys using the link on the desktop
    6) on the Asus web site look for Intel rapid storage technology and download the application to the desktop. If a computer manufacturer approved driver is not found then use: Downloads for Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST)
    7) using control panel uninstall Intel rapid storage technology
    8) reinstall Install Intel rapid storage technology with the link on the desktop
    9) rerun windows driver verifier and post any new dump files with an updated zip: BSOD - Posting Instructions - Windows 10 Forums

@zbook, dump_iastora.sys is NOT the same as iastora.sys. I believe I explained this in a previous post.

I have uninstalled the Logitech software completely, and started running verifier again. Thus far I haven't had any issues, if things keep going well I will try to install a different version of the software and see if there is any improvement.

BSOD after fresh Win 10 install

How did you differ your methods during each Logitech un-installation/reinstallation?

I didn't change anything with the install of the drivers, still installed the latest version of the software. What I am currently running is the Logitech Gaming Software version 8.94.108. After installing the software, I booted into safe mode and disabled the Logitech Gaming Virtual Bus Enumerator driver. A google search for the driver that was causing issues, LGBusEnum.sys shows other people experiencing bsod's caused by this driver going back over a year.
The two drivers in the Logitech Gaming Virtual Bus Enumerator seem to be only LGBusEnum.sys, which according to BleepingComputer is a driver for the lcd screens on some of the older motherboards.
And LGJoyXlCore.sys, which is a driver for your Logitech joystick if you have one.
Disabling this driver therefore doesn't seem to do anything to hamper the usage of software if you don't have a lcd screen on your keyboard or a joystick. And thus far with verifier running in the background, I haven't had any crashes at all.
So given that the driver related issues seem to be solved, guess I will mark the issue as complete. Thanks for your help.

    Can you please clarify:
    1) how come the first time you uninstalled/re-installed it failed?
Was this luck? Or did you do something different?
This may be useful for any future failures related to this driver and/or the computer environment.
    2) what did you do differently each time?
