  1. BSOD after hibernation

    Hi

Since the beginning of February, I have had periodic BSOD's particularly when the computer wakes up from sleeping. The minidump references ATMFD.dll and ntoskrnl.exe. I uninstalled my video card and all adobe software. I do not recall installing any software before these BSOD's started to happen. Before doing a destructive reinstallation of windows, I thought I would check here. I am uploading the diagnostic file as requested.

    :)

  3. DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE BSOD when computer is going to hibernate

Reporting back, after 3 hibernate cycles, no BSOD so far. Usually it'd happen every or every 2nd hibernate after fresh restart. I'm marking your reply as answer. Thanks again! You have saved me from a lot of headaches.

    This thread can be closed.

PS: By the way, the driver that caused BSOD was the one came with Windows 10 installation, the bluetooth would be recognized and work fine with said driver, but it would cause BSOD when computer is powering down. So, you might want to take a look into that.

other Y410P owners running Windows 10, be aware, and make sure to update bluetooth driver after fresh install.

    BSOD after hibernation

Sadly the dumpfiles do not point to something specific.
    3 dumpfiles are
    Two are
Some troubleshooting tips for bugcheck EF here (Developer Content) Bug Check 0xEF: CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED - Windows 10 hardware dev

In all dumpfiles is mentioning of memory corruption
    Start with testing your memory.
Please start with diagnosing the system RAM first. You can use the free tool "Memtest86+" to stress test the RAM.

    How to run "Memtest"
    MemTest86+ - Test RAM - Windows 10 Tutorials
Make sure you are using the latest version 5.01 - Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

You can stop the test even if a single error is found during the test. Otherwise continue the test for 8-10 passes and post a screenshot with next reply. 8 passes is the recommended bare minimum but more passes will give better result.

Thanks or this. Unfortunately, I have already tried several of these approaches before I posted. I ran memtest for 10 hours and it did not show a single error. I ran the system file checker which did not show any violations. I switched to using the Balanced power option with all default settings. I was using the performance before. The computer went to sleep overnight and I had another BSOD when the computer woke up.

I am going to try a non-destructive reinstall of Win 10 next followed by a full reinstall if I cannot figure out what the problem is.

I looked into your drivermodules and you have many older drivers predating windows 10.
It could be that one of these older drivers/programs is the cause of the BSOD.

You can try updating (or removing) these older drivers before reinstalling windows.

Did you check/read your eventviewer if you can find any errors or clues around the time the bsod happened?

  7. Could you please clarify how I might go about updating or removing these? I do update my drivers for "big" things like video cards and printers. I updated my video drivers last week. My video card is a GEForce GTX650. I don't know about the others. If I remove drivers incorrectly, I may cause more grief.

Another problem that I have noticed today is that if I put the computer to sleep, it will immediately reboot.

    BSOD after hibernation

If you can not find newer version of the mentioned older drivers, the best way is to uninstall the programs they came with.

For some drivers like asupio, teedriver, realtek, iastor first look on the supportpage of your mobo.

Hopefully you can find the others through the driver reference table of www.carrona.org.

  9. Hi

I bit the bullet and reinstalled windows using the non-destructive option. The installation is just done and it looks like one of the issues is gone. I will monitor to see if I have any more BSODs.

Can you confirm that I can delete the windows.old folder that contains the old installation of windows.

    Thanks.
