Windows 10: BSOD after installing KB4566782 and other updates

Hello,

I am having similar issues around the August 2020 timeframe of getting, BSOD Kernel security check failure. In August or September it seems to occur at the same time there is mouse movement. I have been suspicious of Acronic True Image/2020 and 2021, Kaspersky Total Security but have been unable to find any causes related to those products.

Here is what I have done.

1. I uninstalled Windows 10 update KB4566782

BSOD still occurred.

2. I uninstalled Windows 10 update KB4569745.

BSOD still occurred.

3. 9/8/2020 installed a missing Logitech mouse firmware update.

BSOD still occurred.

4. 9/9/2020 uninstalled all Kaspersky Total Security and other Kaspersky products, rebooted then reinstalled through Kaspersky website fresh versions.

BSOD still occurred.

KB4566782 Boot problem

KB4566782 update causing boot failure(black screen with dialer image). After several minutes, shut down and restart. After 2-3 restarts I got message "attempting repairs", and then "We removed some recently installed updates to recover your device from
a startup failure." Stopped updates to continue using computer for a few days and had no problems booting up. Downloaded update manually and installed and had same problem. Checked download list, KB4566782 not listed but KB45665503 was on download date. How
does this problem get corrected?

 

Issues even with KB4566782 update

Issues even after KB4566782 update. How can you even use a computer like this? Is there a fix to this in sight?

• Programs unresponsive
• Programs slow to startup
• Firefox slow to startup
• Firefox sometimes takes forever to load page
• Programs crashing
• Restart still taking 15 minutes for restart
• Getting mouse lag

When running Windows Update, I get an error message "An update is being prepared for your device, but it is not quite ready yet. We'll keep trying or you can try again now."

Nothing follows this message. No error code ... nothing.

Trying again now as suggested gets the same error message.

After a repair of Windows Update, I try again. Windows Update is trying to install KB4566782, which is already installed (confirmed in the Control Panel and also by the command WinVer, which shows 19041.450 as the Windows Version).

Open Windows Update and the above error message returns, and even after a reboot, it returns every time I run Windows Update.

The update is installed. What do I do now to remove the error message?
