    BSOD after playing certain games for a while


    I've been having blue screens recently after playing certain games DBZ Kakarot and Prison Architect so far have given me blue screens consistently and I can't seem to fix it. I have stress tested every single component on my computer in various ways, but it only happens when playing certain games. My temperature have NEVER been above 60 celsius, and that's while stressing it immensely.


    Specs for more info:

    CPU - i5-9600k not OC'd

    RAM - 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200MHz

    GPU - RTX 2070 Super

    OS SSD - 1x500GB m.2 WD Blue

    BSOD When playing games

    Hi Jackson,

    Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.

    Please share the information requested below:

    • Does the BSOD occur while playing a particular game?
    • Is the game downloaded from Windows Store?

    I suggest you to update the Graphic Card drivers by following the steps provided below and check if it helps.

    • Press Windows key + X, select Device Manager.
    • Expand Display Adapters.
    • Right click on the driver and select Update Driver Software.
    • Follow the on-screen prompts to update.

    Hi Sumit

    Thanks for the solution but it BSOD again when I tried playing just now.

    I removed all Nvidia drivers with the DDU in safe mode and downloaded the latest driver from Nvidia.

    I'm attaching the latest dump file along my system info if that helps:

    Weird thing is that it only happens on certain games. I was playing another game (not really graphically intensive but still average) and it didn't BSOD at all for my playtime about 3 plus hours.

    I get BSOD's when playing certain games; Deus Ex Mankind Divided, Civilization VI, and Witcher 3. However, I don't get BSOD's when playing Crysis 3, or Call of Duty Infinite Warfare. The driver that's causing it is Hal.dll. My PSU is new, and I ran the windows memory test and it reported no errors. I'm at a loss. Crash file is attached.
