Windows 10: Bsod after playing demanding games for a while

Hello there,

I've built a new gaming pc a few months ago (in March). Due the lack of good experience with the building itself, I've used another forum for finding the components and their compatibility with each other, and a professional shop to built it and install the basic software.

My old gaming pc was running on windows 8.1 and never had any issues. When building the new pc, I decided to upgrade to windows 10 since I enjoyed windows 10 on my laptop. My laptop itself never ran in any issues but is also not used for gaming.

A week or so after I got the pc, I came across the first bsod's when playing a demanding game. Back then, the game was Life is Feudal Your Own. The bsod often happens after playing it for a few hours/half day.

Around a week long, I had a bsod every day, but only once a day. I thought it had something to do with overheating, so I installed 2 more case fans, and later on, even opened my case so it could never be hot in there.

Since a week ago, I started getting bsod's again with demanding games. This time with games like Ark Survival Evolved and For Honor. My case is still open, no dust has piled up or anything, and I still have the case fans of course.

After searching the web, I decided to try some fixes given in those topics.I've deleted all my graphic drivers and deleted Geforce Experience. Restarted my pc several times between deleting, and afterward, reinstalled everything, updated everything, and it looked fine.

A day later, the bsod happened again, once a day, till this very moment. A second thing I've tried is testing my memory. Game performance decreased over time, small freezes of a second, to a few seconds the longer I played (Can be related to the game itself though as the freezes only happens in Ark Survival Evolved). I've used the built in windows memory diagnostic, and later on also Memtest86. Both of them found no issues regarding my memory.

I'm out of options, and only thing I can possible think of is reinstalling my computer or installing windows 8.1 again. Before I consider those options, I decided to try to ask for help on this forum.

- System: Windows 10 Home, Version 1703, Built of system 15063.540.
- Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700k CPU @ 4.20GHz 420GHz
- RAM: 16,0 GB (15,9 GB available)
- Type System: 64-bit, x64-processor.

My computer components:
- Power: Corsair RM650x
- Motherboard: Asus PRIME Z270-P
- CPU: Intel Core i7 7700k Kaby Lake
- GPU: MSI Geforce GTX 960 4GB
- Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-3000
- Storage: Crucial MX300 SSD 275GB, 1TB HHD st1000dm003-1ch162
- Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
- Case: Bitfenix Nova midi-tower black
- 2 case fans
- Mouse: SteelSeries Rival 300 black
- Headset: Logitech G430
- Keyboard: Logitech G610 Orion Red (Qwerty)
- Monitor: Iiyama Monitor Led X2483HSU-BI Black


I would like to add that the messages given with the bsod's were different each time. I don't recall them all, but I do recall CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT (26-08-2017) and WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (17-06-2017).

I wanted to add a dump file as I'm aware that it is critical for solving these issues. Sadly, from all bsod's I've gotten, no dumpfile has been found at C:\Windows\Minidump.

I've used this site to try to solve the issue with no dumpfile, but sadly it didn't work.

It makes me think that the dumpfile location is somewhere else, however the dumpfile directory is %systemroot%\Minidump. That folder however is not created, and no MEMORY.DMP is found either.

I've used the program/script from this site that is used to collect information about your pc, one of the first lines already said that the dump file was not found sadly.

I would really appriciate it if someone can help me find the source of these's bsod's. Sorry for the long story though and most likely bad english, but I wanted to list everything instead of hiding certain information behind.

ive been getting this bsod error recently when i browse the internet or play online games, but weirdly enough it never crashes when i play demanding games for hours. heres the minidump and sysinfo, hope someone can help me as it starting to frustate me

Since I turn on my pc and just for Internet , YouTube , that's was no problem , after I start to play steam's games , almost 20-30 mins it's will automatic get a bsod , ok reboot for me and then the funny thing is after the bsod I continue to play my games
but won't get any bsod problem again at that day , until tomorrow I do the same things , on pc , YouTube then play games in steam , poop ! Bsod again ! Reboot and no problem no bsod again ... Everyday I need to reboot once . This really annoying !

I just saw that the topic was indeed a bit messy. Something on my end went wrong which ended in one long text without lines in between.

I've also updated my specs a bit more, including mouse, keyboard etc.

 

Does the file C:\Windows\memory.dmp exist?

 

That file does not exist. Folder Minidump is also not in C:\Windows\.

I already changed my settings a few days ago in sysdm.cpl and then advanged settings for startup and recovery as it was not making the Minidump. I did some troubleshooting however, it hasn't worked yet.

I've changed the settings to: Disable automatically restart. Small memorydump (256kb) (Was automatic first but that never worked so I took the second recommended option according certain sites) and changed the folder destiny to %SystemRoot%\Minidump.

 

There are no records about BSODs except for unexpected shutdowns.

What things have you tried from the link to MS community?

 

I've changed the folder direction to "%systemroot%\Minidump", disabled automatically restart and selected the Small memory dump (256 kB).

Edit: Think I made a mistake there as well as "%systemroot%" should have been "C:\Windows\Minidump"
I've also made a map called Minidump manual now, maybe it works.

Btw, my Windows 10 Home edition seems to be edited by the one that placed it on my pc (profesional shop) as in system it contains their information, and number for assistance. Can this cause any issues and would a clean install be recommended?

 

The logs are in a foreign language and cannot be scanned or read. Please re-post using English as the default language so that we can troubleshoot the logs:

Would changing the default display language of the system to English work as well zbook ?

Don't worry vandatene, I can perfectly read the logs *Smile

 

%systemroot% = location of Windows folder, thus C:\Windows *Smile

Clean install is recommended, if it can cause issues I don't know.

 

I think I will reinstall my entire pc with a standard windows 10 version and hopefully everything will be fixed. In case the bsod happens again, I will contact this forum again in this topic. 5 minutes after starting my game, I got my first BSOD again. The error was WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR.
After waiting for 25 minutes, I've forced my pc to restart. The % of collected information kept 0%. This has always been like this, which might explain why I also never got a Minidump. I always have to force restart since it stays on 0% after waiting for a long time.

As expected, this time I also have no Minidump. The pc got a clean install this morning, I did close the case to see if it won't overheat.
