Bsod after playing demanding games for a while

I currently have my case open, because when I close it, I get a bsod way faster, which is why I installed 2 more case fans after the first few bsod's. I can close it again, see how it goes. Should be a good test I guess *Smile

Is there a good program that can show me the temperatures of the CPU, GPU and any other sensors?
I have used Afterburner earlier, but I think that can currupt my settings.

HWinfo and Speccy are good onces IMHO.

~30 minutes after closing the case, while being in-game, my pc got a bsod: WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR

Last time I checked the temperature, it was around 68-73 degrees. When restarting my pc, it was 68 degrees. There was time between as I was waiting for the bsod to get 1%+ but it was stuck on 0% once again.

When feeling, it was my PSU that felt very hot. The fan in it wasn't turning (never does) which makes me feel that my power supply is too much? (650W) and that I should consider replacing it for a smaller one ?

I'm just a starting engineer, but as far as I know, energy never gets lost. If it generates 650W, and I only use like 250W or so, then the other energy doesn't vanish, but changes into heat? It's not used properly so the fan isn't turning, my pc gets hot inside when the case is closed and my pc goes into bsod within 1 hour of gaming.

Not sure if I could do anything against this with some kind of program? or that I need to buy a lower PSU? At least, if this is the issue.

Also a good thing to notice. My PSU fan is facing up, toward the inside of the computer. My computer does have a hole so the PSU fan can be faced downward. It has been placed upward by the shop where I got it built, but might turning it solve the heat piling up in the case? The fan still wouldn't turn, so for that, I should maybe have a software to set it to turn when the pc is on ?

Does the fan of the PSU spin when starting the pc?

Yes, it's not broken, it just doesn't reach the % power use for it to be turning if I recall correctly.

The Prime95 test, does that test GPU? I've had twice now that For Honor crashed when alt tabbed. The popup said the GPU crashed, and I have never had this before. My GPU is only 1,5 year old, but since I have freezes in Ark Survival Evolved which others do not have, I'm considering a faulty or almost broken GPU ?

"4. Haven't unplugged the GPU as the game is too much demanding to play without a GPU, and with normal use of the pc, I never have had a bsod."

Both of those statements make it very certain the GPU chip is overheating. I would run that much more conservatively and see if that has an effect, underclock if you can. Obviously check temperatures.

One of the hazards of so-called overclocking is damage to the GPU chip and a much shorter life. Hammering it with games for 1½ year may just have killed it.

PSU - These are most efficient when run at half their power rating, therefore nothing wrong with the power rating of your PSU.
You have it wrong, it does not draw 650 w when supplying 300 w, probably around 360 w draw assuming 80% efficiency.

I've never done over or under clocking so that couldn't have damaged the GPU chip I assume? Is there a way to test any damage to the GPU chip or GPU at all with some kind of test ?

It's been a few days. Could I maybe have a update? Would like to know if there is any way to test and find out if a GPU is faulty or damaged ?

So I assume no-one has a answer for my question about the GPU testing ?

Sorry for the delay, been busy past few days.

Prime95 tests the RAM and CPU, not the GPU.

To test your GPU, run Furmark.

Note Run Furmark for around 30 minutes

Warning Your GPU temperatures will rise quickly while Furmark is running. Keep a keen eye on them and abort the test if temperatures rise too high
When finished, make a photo/screenshot of Furmark and post it.

In Furmark you can find a tool called 'GPU-Z' (if you want to install GPU-Z is up to you), when GPU-Z is open click on the 'Sensors' tab, on this tab you can monitor
    • the frequency of the GPU,
    • the GPU memory clock,
    • the temperature,
    • the power,
    • the load on the GPU,
    • Etc.
I would like you to make a screenshot of GPU-Z after you have either cancelled Furmark for any reason or Furmark is finished, post this screenshot in your next reply with the result of Furmark.
