  1. BSOD and restarts after bug control 0x0000000a and more random errors

I reinstalled windows today. Very clean install. I installed all drivers, utilities etc...
As soon as I plugged in my Logitech headset, a BSOD appeared. While I rolled back to the restore point, during that restore point, another BSOD ocurred.
I lost the first (due to crappycleaner ;-) but I still have the latter. Please note that the Nvidia driver has been cleaned and reinstalled after this last BSOD.

I'm really starting to get the feeling that a hardware error will be very likely... or is it too early to draw conclusions?
Anyhow, on all the components is still warranty. Maybe I should stop ruling out ghost-issues here, and go for a replacement?

How do I proceed after this info? Do another memtest? Do I start with pairs? or the full 4x8 for overnight, and starting pairs tommorow if all is in the blue?

Also, another thing that crossed my mind is the fact that my bios is up to date, if I try to flash in the uefi over the net. But when I go to the drivers section of the ROG STRIX site, it gives me a whole new .cap file, published only 2 weeks ago... It is very confusing for me to bear the difference... maybe that could be the culprit?

Feels like my head starts to explode...

    Thanx!!!!Attachment 149033

  2. I went back to that post, and I recall the problem.
But it hasn't occured since then...

I'm going to do an extensive memtest again. Since I'm about to go to bed, I'll start the memtest86+ on all four's, interchanging tommorow when it finishes.

To be clear, I DO need the memtest86+, and not the regular memtest86?

    Thanx for your input!

    Memtest86+ version 5.01 Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool
When we work up complicated bsod the best method is a vanilla windows installation.
After a clean install (deleting partitions, formating, making an unallocated drive) the windows operating system is installed with only windows installed drivers. The hardware/software is then evaluated. Only after stability are the component drivers installed.
This cleaner and slower process allows a better troubleshooting environment.
Now that you have the RAM / DIMM / MB testing in progress this can be done once this rule in /rule testing is completed.

The zip file was in a foreign language. Please use English as the default language so that we can interpret the logs:
Language - Add, Remove, and Change in Windows 10 Windows 10 General Tips Tutorials

There were no bsod mini dump files in the zip.
Please modify Ccleaner so that it does not clean the memory dump files: Windows tab > un-check memory dumps
Check system control panel > advanced system settings > startup and recovery > settings
make sure it displays automatic memory dump
    un-check automatically restart
make sure dump file is: %SystemRoot%\MEMORY.DMP

The problems that were able to be identified were:
    X-Plane
    CorsairLink4

When the Memtest86+ has completed 8 or more passes, the more passes the better, please use a camera or smart phone camera to take pictures and post the images into the thread.

Okay, No errors on memtest, but it wasn't the 86+ version, so I'm going to fire that one up before I go to bed.

In the meanwhile, I'm going to re-install windows on a second drive (ssd) and look if that may help.
I'll make sure language settings will be in English, so if any BSOD occurs in the next few days, there will be more info to go by.

    I'll keep you posted!

    Thanx again for your time,

    Bob

  5. Hello zbook

I started with the memtest86+ but I am a little bit worried.
The test shows only 1 core. Shouldn't that be 4 cores? I did not select the ht-option. When i press <c> for config, I selected the parallel option in the core selection, but still, it shows just one.

Also, I noticed that my processor is running not very cool. Between 45° C and 75° C idling in windows.

I attached the memtest photo with the one core

    Thanx!

Viewing the Memtest86+ studies that have been completed you will see that they have displayed 1 core.
For the memory testing we ask that everyone post images into the thread.
Many of the other threads in the forum have had memory testing so you can view other threads to see the results:
BSOD Crashes and Debugging - Windows 10 Forums
There should be no over clocking during the testing.
Some types of errors don't show up until the computer has been running a while.
So having variability in the computer temperature gives more real world testing.
If the temperature rises rapidly above 80 degrees C or remains above 80 then you can terminate testing.
In general the memory testing should not be a stress test like Prime95 CPU nor Furmark GPU testing.
If the temperatures are running warm you will want to check the computer for dust, clean fans, check cooling, etc.
For the testing we ask that you perform 8 or more passes to reduce the incidence of false negatives.
A false negative is a pass when the RAM is faulty.
    The more passes the better.
If there is just 1 error you can abort the testing.
Then test 1 RAM at a time in the same DIMM.
Testing again should be for 8 or more passes.
When testing has completed use a camera or smart phone camera to take a picture and post images into the thread.
When the Memtest86+ testing has completed download and install either one of these software applications:
    CPU-Z | Softwares | CPUID
    HWiNFO - Download

  7. Ah yes, I see, it's in other tests as well.
I'll continue the tests. Thank you!
