Windows 10: BSOD Caused by Driver hal.dll

Hello,


Last night I had a BSOD so I took a look at the minidump using BlueScreenView and this is what was highlighted.

I'm not great at dissecting a .dmp and the only filename that I found that seemed out of place was cpuz149_x64.sys which is something I thought I had uninstalled but I'll double check that. I jumped over to WinDbg and opened the minidump and then ran !analyze -v. I'm even worse at dissecting this output but I did notice something on the PROCESS_NAME: SwarmAgent.exe. The SwarmAgent is used by the Unreal Engine to process / build light mass. Anyhow, could someone take a look at the minidump and let me know what you think? I recently ran Aida64 for 9+ hours, memtest68+ for 5 runs, Windows Memory Diagnostic for 2 runs, and Prime95 for 5+ hours and I did not have a crash.

Bad ram was the problem.

 

while watching youtube videos, i get bsod "machine check exception"

hi aracely. hal dll is an important dll for windows i know. but what do you think about which driver causes this bsod ? i have updated all my drivers with nvidia and intel assistants but im getting the same bsod

What type of copy of xp are you trying to install?

HAL stands for Hardware abstraction layer (Hardware abstraction - Wikipedia)

You computer didn't like the motherboard drivers...
