    BSOD: "Critical process died" - No solutions in the recovery environment are working


    The problem:

    1. When I start my PC, Windows fails to boot and I get a blue screen with "Stop code: Critical process died". I am unable to enter the desktop.
    2. It then restarts and attempts an automatic repair, but fails and takes me to the Recovery Environment
    3. Here, I tried many options, but all have failed:
      1. I am unable to go into safe mode.
      2. I cannot uninstall any updates. I also want to mention that I recently installed a Windows update (1909) a couple days ago. I was then prompted to restart again to apply another update (which I did today), after which I opened Chrome and my computer started freezing up so I restarted it and received the BSOD.
      3. I cannot do a system restore. There seems to be a restore point from a couple days ago, but then when I try to choose my C: drive for restore, it says "You must enable system protection on this drive" and I can't continue.
      4. It won't let me reset the PC and says there's a problem, just like when I try to uninstall updates.


    4. I have also ran Memtest on bootup and received no errors after doing two passes for two hours, so I'm pretty sure my RAM is fine.


    5. If anyone wants photos from any of the processes I tried or other extra details, just let me know.

    So I am unsure if my WIndows crashed and became corrupted or if it's due to driver failure or something else. Is there any way to diagnose and repair this? Maybe with command prompt since that seems to be my only option in the Recovery Environment? I would also like to keep my personal files and apps if possible. Windows is installed on my SSD (CBSOD: "Critical process died" - No solutions in the recovery environment are working :) and I have another HDD (DBSOD: "Critical process died" - No solutions in the recovery environment are working :), which I'm assuming I can just detach and save the files. Though I just checked command prompt and it seems like my SSD is now the F drive.

    Critical Process Died BSOD

    Received a Critical Process Died BSOD, I can not get into Safe Mode (same BSOD), but I do have Windows Recovery, Windows PE and Windows 10 Boot to use to access Command Prompt. System Restore won't let me restore, some comment about enabling system Protection.
    SFC /Scannow gives a Windows Resource Protection Error, and DISM won't work in the recovery environment. Any help fixing Windows short of a "reset" would be fantastic.

    Critical process died BSoD loop

    My alienware 17 R3 laptop apparently forced restart to update windows 10 earlier in the day and after the update finished it literally won't start up and is now stuck in Critical process died BSoD loop without me being able to enter safe mode.

    Any attempt to entering safe mode results in another Critical process died blue screen and I've tried EVERYTHING that the net lists as a solution.

    Tried going back to previous version of windows and it list an error, tried restoring from a previous point and it doesn't show up at all. Hell I tried a complete reset of the laptop and it gave me an error and said it cannot complete the process for god
    knows what reason.

    This happened once on my older alienware 17 r3 and I had to get a replacement entirely due to the vendors not being able to decipher the root cause of the problem but one thing is for damn sure, everytime a windows 10 update happens my laptop potentially
    gets killed off...

    Seriously, any suggestions? This is pretty frigging infuriating.
