Windows 10: BSOD DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION crash and failure to boot/ random screen freeze

Hi, I have recently started getting the Watchdog Violation BSOD. These crashes happen randomly, whether I'm running a program or not. I've been able to read my memory dump using Windows Debugger. I've had this issue in the past, and it's now reoccurring. My suspicion is that it might be related to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. I had a similar issue in the past when I had Modern Warfare 2 installed. Although this is just a suspicion, it could be useful in finding a solution. Random BSOD while browsing internet


BitDefender is nothing special. mwac.sys causes BSODs anywhere.

In that very thread, the suggested action apparently worked.

The storage and network filters of any third party antivirus can cause BSODs. Neither MBAM nor BitDefender is any special. For a regular antivirus, it may be shifted to an alternative; but MBAM has no alternative. So a clean install of the said program is the most feasible first step.
As far as the first step is not failing, it is better to not think for the second step. Because the BSODs are not universal, failure at the first step is not universal; and success at the second step is also not universal.
That is why I posted that my suggestion may work, or may not. Let us see where it goes.

 

Random Freezes and BSOD (DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION)

I suggest you to unplug all external devices connected to the system and restart the system to check if the issue persists.

Sometimes new hardware can cause blue screen errors. Since you recently added new hardware to your computer, shut down your system, unplug the new hardware, and then restart to check the status.

and check if it helps:

Follow the steps given below:

• Type Troubleshooting in the
  Search box from the desktop.
• Select the Troubleshooting option.
• Select View All option and select the
  System Maintenance.

  System Maintenance troubleshooter and follow the steps.

Random X99 boot failure

From time to time my X99 WIndows 10 Pro system will simply refuse to boot up initially. For example, it could have functioned perfectly one night, performing like a champ for 4~5 hrs without any crashes. Then after I got back from work the next day I was greeted with constant BSOD during initial start up. It will either crash within minutes of booting up into windows 10, or simply give me a "PFN list corrupt" and enter a BSOD loop. This is totally random, as it would be problem free for an entire week and then crash infinitely the next week.

I did both ASUS realbench stress test and AIDA64 stress test. Both of them check out ~12hrs of stability. Any ideas guys?? Thanks!
