BSOD - Driver Power State Failure

In a bit of a jam here,

Currently I have windows 10 installed, although the problem was persisting even while I was using windows 7. The problems started when I ran out of space on my SSD and tried to bring files over to my other HDD for storage. In the end I threw my hands up and reformatted my Windows 7. And since my SSD was too small to keep everything on last time I decided to install windows on my HDD. After updating everything and so on my computer, again, decided to BSOD. So I upgraded to windows 10 and eventually it started doing the same thing. I've looked through my device manager and have not located any out of date drivers and I'm about to throw my pc out my window (not really).

Needless too say I require some assistance, here is my log for review.

    Thank you for your time.

    :)

BSOD - Driver Power State Failure

    Hi Auggy,

I updated both of the offending drivers and so far I have had 2 days BSOD free. The original problem was not consistently repeatable, so I cannot say with certainty that the "problem is solved," but early indications are positive.

    Thanks for the guidance.

BSOD - Driver Power State Failure

    Hi Locke,

    Welcome to the 10forums.

Please run SeaTools and chkdsk on your hard drive and only chkdsk on your SSD.

Thank you for the reply axe0,

I've updated the drivers you suggested, and ran Seatools on my HDD and it came up clean. However when I ran dskchk on my SDD it said it required repair; Although there's nothing on the drive. But when I try to repair it it vanishes from existence and I cannot perform and further tests.. Very odd. Also I forgot to mention after my computer gets a BSOD and reboots, it tries to reboot via CD/DVD...even though my boot device is set to my HDD. Is there any way I can simply disable the drive to prevent further issues?

In the BIOS you should be able to remove the CD/DVD from the boot list if that is what you mean.

    Hey axe0,

Good idea, when I went into the BIOS I noticed the boot sequence was still going from my SSD as the Primary, and since it's having errors (and it's also blank) that was why it was switching to CD/DVD as the secondary. What should I do to disable the SSD?

Thank you so much for your time and patience, I really appreciate it.

Here is the screenshot of my Disk Management. Strangely i got another BSOD a few minutes ago and even though i removed CD/DVD from the boot sequence it still attempted to boot that way..

Also attached is my latest Dm report.

Format the SSD, if correct should it remove the SSD from the boot list.

Please check your manufacturer of the motherboard for BIOS updates.

    System File Check
    Please try following:
    • Open an admin command prompt
    • Copy/paste "sfc/scannow" (without quotes) and press enter
    • When it finished reboot your system
    • Open again an admin command prompt
    • Enter sfc/scannow again
If sfc/scannow does NOT say "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violation" after the second SFC, please upload the cbs.log file located at {windows partition}\Windows\Logs\CBS\, if the file is too large try a 3rd party uploader like dropbox, onedrive, google drive, mediafire etc.
System File Check(SFC a.k.a. Windows Resource Protection) needs to have your system rebooted in order for sfc to try to fix the problems that it finds.

You might want to check your scheduled tasks.
This comes back a lot in the event logs

As far as I can tell the drivers are up-to-date by looking at the list of drivers for my motherboard.

SFC Did not find anything wrong, and i'm not sure what to do about the Task Scheduler, i looked up what task was scheduled around the time the log you posted and it was the GoogleUpdateTaskMachineCore and GoogleUpdateTaskMachineUA. So I disabled them while I ran the first SFC scan and I got a BSOD while the scan was being performed. So I rebooted and performed another scan, rebooted and performed the scan a second time, and found no violations.

    System Specs Updated

Not sure what you mean about the hard drives, they are connected to the motherboard as well as each other?

Previously on Windows 7 i had windows installed on the SSD but through SymLinks i had most of the files actually on the larger hard drive, other than the windows folder itself, such as Program Files, Users, and Program Files(x86)

    New log uploaded.

With hard drive setup I mean RAID, AHCI or IDE.
How your hard drives are connected to each other.

    Please disable driver verifier
    • Open an admin command prompt
    • Enter "verifier/reset" (without quotes)

Everything in my BIOS points to IDE

And my bad, the hard drives aren't connected; it was simply the PSU cable. (d'oh)

    Verifier reset.
