So I had an XFX R9 270x video card which started to die, Windows would not boot fully and when it sometimes would the screen would go black or all sorts of colors/patterns and then just hang there and not be responsive via network, ping, remote desktop, etc. I thought maybe the PSU wasn't providing enough power so I found an EVGA 750W PSU on sale and bought that but the problem persisted so I figured it was the GPU.

So I bought a new MSI RX 470 Gaming X 8GB for an excellent price, installed it and everything worked fine. The next day I went to play Call of Duty Infinite Warfare and the computer crashed with an "Out of Memory" error. So I closed all programs other than Call of Duty and tried again and this time I got a "VIDEO_TDR_ERROR" error. So I looked up the error and a lot of people recommended doing a super clean uninstall using Guru3D Driver Sweeper which I did and then reinstalled the latest drivers from AMD's site.

After that Call of Duty played fine and the computer was fine for the next day or so but then today I've gotten two crashes with the error "DRIVER_PAGE_FAULT_IN_FREED_SPECIAL_POOL" and I was just working, not gaming or watching video or anything. The only thing I can think of that I had open both times was Chrome but can that cause this type of crash? Since then I haven't run chrome and just left the PC running and it so far hasn't happened again.

I also ran FurMark and didn't experience any artifacts, crashes or excessive heat, etc.

Anyway, that's the story. I've attached the zip file from DM Log Collector and would super appreciate any help or insight anyone may have.

    Thank you!

    :)

  2. Driver IRQL Not Less Or Equal

I finally had a BSOD with a message pointing to ATIKMDAG.SYS as the reason for the BSOD. I was able to locate a bundle of drivers from HP and extracted a new ATIKMDAG.SYS and installed it on my system. I have been stable ever since.

  3. BSOD - atikmdag.sys & Crtitical Structure Error

I installed Win10. I installed a game which kept causing a BSOD with atikmdag.sys. I fixed the issue by copying the atikmdag.sys DLL from ATI to System32 drivers folder. The game launched after that.

However, now the computer keeps crashing with Critical Structure Error BSOD, and the solutions for them suggests upgrading driver for ATI which again takes me back to the first issue.
