Oh the joys of being a tech savvy son visiting town... *Wink

My parent's computer has had a history of going into a sleep of death and not wanting to have the screen wake up no matter how many or what graphics drivers I tried. In a clean install of Windows 10 that problem all but disappeared. Today the computer is BSOD'ing multiple times an hour.

Going off of the dump files I have done a clean uninstall of the AMD drivers with Guru 3D Clean Uninstaller and reinstalled the latest drivers from AMD's website (different than the original drivers). Beyond that I am not sure how to proceed. Usually I have several spares of basically every component and I like to be able to troubleshoot by swapping out parts. Unfortunately I am at my parent's and cannot really do this as they don't have the hardware.

At this point I am hesitantly saying hardware is at fault here considering there are similar ongoing problems across clean installs of Windows. Plus a reinstall of graphics drivers didn't work. I am guessing a graphics card or power supply issue but I was hoping someone else might have some ideas.

I included the dump files in the requested zipped format in my OP.

  2. Driver Verifier BSOD diagnosis opinions?

Thank you very much for looking at this.

I followed the directions for uninstalling the drivers, and attempted to install new ones that I

downloaded from my motherboard maker, ASUS.
Unfortunately, they don't provide audio drivers for anything past Win 7 64 bit, but even though I'm running Win 10, I tried them. The computer would still crash when I ran driver verifier at startup and I had
    to use a restore point.

When I checked which drivers were installed, however, it seemed to still be reverting to the original ones that initially caused the problem. So, I did some research on my own and used the Windows Show or Hide Updates program to make sure VIA wasn't auto-updating,
but the issues persisted. So, as a last resort, I simply went to device manager and updated the audio drivers to Win 10 provided by Microsoft, but I'm still getting the driver verifier crash before the system starts. My computer is presently in this state.
As long as I don't use driver verifier, it doesn't crash at startup, but I bet it will after normal sustained use.

The new dump files are here from the trials above. I'm curious if they're all still pointing to the audio driver, and if so/not,
what other steps you might recommend?

  3. Driver Verifier BSOD diagnosis opinions?

I used the link provided and selected the option that says the BSOD occurred while using my PC. The link suggests checking for updates and disconnecting hardware. My software is already up to date, and rather than disconnecting random hardware, I was under
the impression from that by uploading the dump files from the Driver Verifier program that from

    this post
, there might be some clues as to what specific driver is causing the crashes. Is that possible to determine?

    Hi tstone13,

    Welcome to the 10forums.

The AMD Video drivers have been flagged, as you already have done a clean install of the drivers we need to rule out the GPU itself.

I can run Furmark and will update when I have finished. I do doubt it will turn up anything as it is incredibly stable under load. It seems to only crash at certain lower power states (like coming out of sleep). Will update with results.

(edit) I am eating my words not 5 minutes later. Within 3 minutes of starting the test the monitor started flashing and displaying odd looking patterns that filled the screen followed by a complete lockup. Seems like it's a hardware problem for sure. Can't believe I forgot to run Furmark. The weird thing is the system seems to have really a hard time waking from sleep which makes me want to blame the power supply.

There are problems with the sleep function yes, but I am pretty sure it is not the PSU.

I have once seen it solved when the OP updated the BIOS.

Updated the BIOS from A08 to A10. We'll see if that fixes anything. I haven't done this much troubleshooting for awhile - I am really rusty *sarc.

Also scares me to update the BIOS. I have soft bricked several boards trying to update the BIOS. Almost hard bricked one board.

It scares me too with such a high risk, but I have never had a problem.
