    Bsod help please

Hey all getting bsod on windows 10 tech preview here is my debug info
    Attachment 12754
help much appreciated. I have run mem test overnight no ram errors. cheers
Just a bit more info the error bcc is 0xc000021a and the cause is "ntoskrnl.exe" address "ntoskrnl.exe+3d2091" >I have tried running sfc /scannow from cmd admin and after a clean boot and in safe mode but it wont run and I get error

"Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.9926](c) 2015 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

    C:\WINDOWS\system32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
    Verification 2% complete.

Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.

    C:\WINDOWS\system32>"

Dont know if it means anything but I get "explorer.exe unknown hard error when I boot to safe mode and I then have to run stuff like cmd from task manager.Have also tried stress testing with prime95 went half hour before blue screen(but system only goes about that between blue screens anyway. No error is logged in prime.

Its a new motherboard and cpu . The power supply hdd's and ram are from previous build. Blue screens started about a week after latest windows 10 preview 9926 was installed.

edit:2 Ok also getting "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA " caused by "cpuz138_x64.sys" I think maybe this is my issue I dont seem to have cpuz or cpuid installed but the driver is on my pc how can I manually remove it? I read through this post but its not much help. Page_fault_in_nonpaged_area (cpuz137_x32.sys)

Edit 3: Anyway I can find out what program uses "cpuz138_x64.sys" so I can do a clean install and not reinstall the offending program?( I use both "corsair link" and "nzxt cam" software which control my liquid coolers Im guessing its one of those two that uses the cpuid driver)

EDIT4 looking in the corsair link folder in program files x86 looks like this is the program installing cpuid it has a dll "cpuidsdk.dll" so guessing it uses the cpuid sdk to report temps and fan speed going to do a fresh install now and leave that software off will see what happens not sure how I will control my liquid cooler though...

Reformatted did not reinstall CPU cooler program so no cpuz driver. Have only had 1 blue screen in last 4 hours big improvement look into it more tomorrow

    :)

  2. Windows 10 failed attempts to use "Backup and Restore (Windows 7)" function

Repeated backup failures. Running Windows 10, and when the “Backup and Restore (Windows 7) program is run front the Control Panel, I get the messages:

“Check your backup. The last backup did not complete successfully”.

“Windows Backup failed to get an exclusive lock on the EFI system partition (ESP). This may happen if another application is using files on the ESP.”

    “Please retry the operation.”

Each time I retry, I get the same result and messages.

Windows 10 came installed on my Dell Inspiron 15 (500 Series) laptop. I have successfully used the same Backup and Restore (Windows 7) program to “Create a system image”, as well as to “Create a system repair disc”.

Please provide me with some insight and suggested actions.

  3. Running windows 10 and lost browser connectivity after installing the 2013 Microsoft Office Suite

running windows 10 preinstalled on a new Dell lap top had no problem with windows browser, no problem installing Chrome, no problem downloading and activating 2013 Microsoft Office programs. BUT lost all browser connectivity after installing the 2013 Microsoft
Office Suite. Internet connectivity confirmed along with DNS, pings, etc.

Should I uninstall the 2013 Microsoft Office Suite?

Just a bit more info the software I narrowed it down to is media browser for xbmc/kodi and the corsair link software. I re installed windows and left both these off so far has been 3.5 hours with no bsod. I think corsair was giving me the cpuid bsod and media browser add-on the stop code "0xc000021a error cause "ntoskrnl.exe". I had both the media browser windows app as well as the kodi add on. After a fresh install with just kodi the media browser app and kodi media browser add on installed it blue screened within an hour repeatedly.

Recently we've seen problems with the CPUz drivers (the ones that we saw came from Speccy).

Corsair Link software has also been known to cause BSOD's in other versions of Windows.

I haven't seen issues with the media browser for xbmc/kodi

    Here's my analysis:

You only have 3 updates, my Win10 installation has 4. Please check to be sure that you have ALL available updates.

The WER seciton of MSINFO32 shows errors related to umpo.dll - the User Mode Power service (a Windows service).
You might want to experiment by turning off all power saving options and disabling sleep/hibernate.
Also, you may want to shut off Fast Startup (just a hunch on my part).

cpuz138_x64.sys shows up in 2 of the memory dumps' stack traces.
    It's running out of c:\users\big\appdata\local\temp\cpuz138\cpuz138_x64.sys
I'd suggest renaming the driver from .sys to .BAD and see if that helps
BUT, be sure to set a System Restore point in case the system doesn't boot!

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

    CAM_Client.sys Sat Jul 26 09:29:37 2008 (488B26C1)
a product that belongs to the WinRing0 libraries (from OpenLibSys.org) - which are known to cause BSOD's in some Windows systems. I suggest uninstalling this program.
CAM_Client.sys - this driver hasn't been added to the DRT as of this run. Please search Google/Bing for the driver if additional information is needed.

tfl81x.sys appears to be an Intel Thunderbolt driver - and the copy on your system dates from 2013. I'd strongly suggest updating it to the latest available version from Intel® Download Center

    Bsod help please

usasma thanks for your post and I will follow up with your directions. I can confirm, when I have the media browser app and or the xbmc client addon installed I get the first blue screen stop error 0xc000021a within an hour of installation. I can also confirm that cam also uses the cpuz driver. and I get the cpuz bsod with just cam installed. I have not had media browser or the cam/corsair link software installed since yesterday and have had about 12 hours screen on time without a blue screen. Have formatted about 4 times in last 3 days so when I get the bug again I will install the software again and see if I can stop it. I know there is anew version of corsair link due soon may wait till then to see.

    Nice troubleshooting!
Can you stop the cpuz driver from loading (use Autoruns from Microsoft - and just uncheck it, don't delete it)?
If so, does that stop the BSOD's? Does it allow Cam to run?

As for the Corsair Link and it's BSOD's - there's 2 things to note here:
    1) this problem has been around for a couple of years and still hasn't been fixed
    2) BSOD's are actually pretty rare events, so it may not even have been noticed by Corsair

    Good luck!

PS - I've seen BSOD issues with Silicone Labs USBXpress stuff in the past, but not very often. I have to wonder if this is an incompatibility that's reared it's ugly head here. - j
