    BSOD (often after firefox crashes)

    There were 2665 errors.
Just 1 error is a fail.
    So you can abort testing
Now determine which RAM module is faulty by testing 1 RAM module at a time in the same DIMM for 8 or more passes.

I just tested the first stick (2 8gb) and it’s immediately red again. Does that mean I don’t need to do 8 passes and can test the other 8 in the same DIMM right away, or will you need to see the results to compare and check if the DIMM is at fault?

I’ve seen the table in the tutorial, that one should use in order to check if it’s a ram or DIMM fault, but to be honest I cant really make much sense of it in comparison to what I can see on my screen with memtest. Will there be some sort of results page at the end?

I tested the first stick it failed, as you can see the second seems to be doing okay and I guess this means the slot is okay too. Still I will have to make eight passes and let you know!

The computer has 4 DIMM slots.
The RAM were in 1A DIMM 0 and 1B DIMM 0
The empty DIMM were 1A DIMM 1 and 1B DIMM 1
Just 1 error is a fail and testing can be aborted.
There is no advantage to let it go further as the malfunctioning part needs to be removed or replaced.
The computer manual should have information about the largest size RAM module that can be placed in each DIMM.
When replacing RAM it should come as a package with matching SKU. This way the modules are compatible.

Please post into the thread the scannow and restore health reports.

Check the website for the computer to see whether or not there is a newer version of the BIOS and post the URL or hyperlink into the thread.

I was thinking that when I finish testing this second stick (still not reporting errors) I could leave the computer as it is with 8 gig and see if it has any more BSOD problems?

Can I not just show the salesmen the old (broken) RAM and have them replace it with the same or at least similar modules to what I have been using? To be honest not sure if I still have my manual! Will try to dig it out...

I will try to get you the scannow results tomorrow. Do you want those results after the new RAM is installed or before?

I will go out and buy it tomorrow probably.

Thanks again for your patience and your help. Just to clarify you also want me to see if my bios can be updated to a newer version?

The owners manual for the computer is likely available online.
Please find the website link for the computer and post it into the thread.
The website should have available the latest computer / motherboard manufacturer BIOS and drivers to download.
The computer can run with only 8 GB RAM in 1 DIMM. If you replace the RAM you could consider getting another pair of 8, 8 or a pair of 16,16 or 8,8,8,8 etc. It's best to check the owners manual to see the maximum capacity and configurations approved for the motherboard.
If you can RMA the RAM then you will likely get a matching pair.
If the computer is no longer under warranty then you will likely need to acquire a kit or a package where the RAM modules have been tested to work with each other.

The scannnow and restorehealth can be run any time and repeated as needed.

I dont think I am going to try and update the bios (unless it seems like I have no other choice) it kind of makes me uneasy that I will do something wrong or something will just go wrong! It doesent sound very forgiving and China does have a tendancy towards sudden power cuts lol. I'm not going to put the new RAM in for a few days and see how the computer runs on 8.

    1) If there are any more BSOD post a new zip:
    log collector v2-beta06.zip
    2) Please see the "My Computer" section > update the information on the computer specs
    3) Post the scannow and restorehealth when available
    4) Make plans to fix the OS corruption and problems related to Macrium and languages.

Yeah thanks man I am probably going to do a clean installation of windows at some point, I think the BSOD may go away but there are still many problems relating to updates and SFC repair (they fail). Will let you know how it goes, but the main thing I am hoping is the machine stops crashing for the rest I am willing to be patient!

Here is the DISM log apparently- The configuration registry database is corrupt.

Not sure how to fix that!

Hello don't have much time as I have just installed windows cleanly and have a lot to set up! Just a quick line to let you know with a clean installation everything now seems to be working good as new. All the updates went through and I didn't get any black screens or failure to update's as I have been getting!

Will get back to you with more tests after I've got properly set up (ill then put new RAM in too) but for now here is the sfc scan (which is now working) results. Thanks again for everything!

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
    Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
