Windows 10: BSOD on boot after latest Windows 10 update July 2021

Hi there,My daughter approved a Windows 10 update on her HP Pavilion 14-ce2501sa laptop last week @15th July 2021 and after it completed and restarted the laptop will not boot. On start-up we get the initial OS boot screen with HP logo but it BSOD's as soon as it tries to run the Windows OS. I can't run it in recovery mode, get Error Code: 0xc0000185. I don't know which Windows update she installed beforehand but from her description the update completed successfully without any interruptions. She does not have a recovery USB backup, so I think it will require a recovery/repair USB boot

Well just noticed a pretty large one pop up coming in at 914MB, seems it makes some pretty serous updates.

ughhh! BSOD on boot

I guess my computer BSOD on boot right before getting to windows. not sure what the problem is though, everything is stable.

It gave me a list of two files in windows that could have caused the problems

Hello Meg,

it will tell you it was they last update on the computer. It should be the first recover option on the list, I only had one option to select.

Although my backup date was July 17, 2017.

Yours may be similar?
