Windows 10: BSOD on Windows 10 after 1909 update KMODE EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED

Starting a new thread as I think my old one has got lost like a needle in the proverbial haystack.


Please can someone please post some tips on how to do a root cause analysis on a Windows 10 blue-screen-of-death:


Windows 10 update failing forever


I really need to get this fixed asap.

KMode Exception Not Handled BSOD

Started receiving this lovely error yesterday Getting BSOD KMode Exception Not handled. Tried updating the drivers, tried setting what the power buttons do. I tried CCcleaner, Virus Scans, Tried setting a dump folder. And I still get the Same BSOD with no additional Errors other than KMode Exception not handled. Please helpAttachment 182877

 

KMODE Exception Not Handled since 1909 update

I had a ton of issues installing the 1909 feature update last month, with it failing multiple times at 75%. I gave up last month but decided to try again last night. Again it failed using the Windows 10 Update Assistant, giving a BSOD around the 75% mark, just as before. As one last-ditch effort, I tried the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft's site. The first attempt failed with a "KMODE Exception Not Handled" stop code at 75%. It attempted to recover the upgrade, and somehow it was successful and the update went through.

I then checked for updates again through the normal method, and it found a couple small updates, and applied them. Again when rebooting it gave me the "KMODE Exception Not Handled" along with the following messages:

- preparing automatic repair
- diagnosing your PC
- windows couldn't load correctly
- automatic repair could not repair your PC

I checked my version # and Windows reports it's running Version 1909, OS build 18363.535, 64-bit.

So now I can't boot into Windows normally. Most of the time it fails with the "KMODE Exception Not Handled" BSOD. Sometimes it randomly boots successfully but since last night it really doesn't want to load Windows. I ran chkdisc already and it reports no errors. When the PC does boot into Windows, like right now, it's fine. I'm typing this post in Windows. But it took several attempts to get it to boot.

What can I do? The Stop Code gives no indication of what caused the failure.

Fast Boot is disabled along with Hibernation, so that can't be what's triggering it.
