When you rename a file in a folder on a Redirected desktop, the Windows 10 PC performing this Blue Screens on RDBSS.SYS

Windows 1803 (17134.556) had the initial problem, PC fully updated on1803 still had issue.

Noticed that another PC with 1809 had RDBSS.SYS with File version of 10.0.17763.348 - so updated the problem PC to 1809 (17763.379), still BSOD. Can create on multiple PCs with 1803/1809 installed.

Any one any ideas, be nice if Microsoft fixed it!

    :)

  2. Ahhzz Win User

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Rename of files and folders in Offline Folders

    Hi,

I have a client who uses offline files on a laptop and has Windows 10, version 1803.

He is not able to rename any of the files or folders under his redirected Users folder, which is set to use offline files. I have checked permissions and there are no issues there. He can copy files, move files in, save files to it, create new folders
(except he cannot rename that new folder, it will stay as "New Folder"), and the only thing is he cannot rename them. I can rename the files with no issue when logged onto the server. Interestingly, I can create a new folder, copy a file into it and rename
    it in there.

There used to be an old problem with renaming files under Offline Folders, but that was only for case changes (upper to lower case or vice versa) but this new problem goes further, it does not allow renaming of the file or folder at all.

I suspect that this might be a new bug in version 1803, as the client says it has only started happening recently. Has anyone come across this and does anyone know of a fix for it?

Next step I am going to try is turning off Offline Files and see what happens.

    Appreciate the responses.

    Thanks.
