Enter following command in an admin command prompt
Code: chkdsk C: /r[/quote] Windows will ask for a reboot, press Y and reboot, it may take a couple of hours for chkdsk to complete.
It could be that it looks like chkdsk is stuck or something, usually at around 20%, but it isn't stuck and could suddenly finish after some hours.
Please let it finish and don't interrupt it, interrupting may cause more problems.

Its been a long time since I've done it myself so my description isn't proper.
You need to press Y and reboot.

  6. Well, right now it's stuck at 11%. So we shall wait and see if it's fixed once it completes. How will I know if it is fixed?

As you may know it only marks bad sectors as bad and attempts to recover data that is in the bad sector, it really doesn't fix anything but it does extend the period of the hard disks lifetime by letting the system know what sector to use and not to use.

Okay. Is this what is causing it to freeze up?

Honestly I don't know why it looks like it is freezing.

After it is done I would like to see a screenshot of HDTune of the health tab to see how many bad sectors the hard disk can handle and to see if there may be other problems despite the results of SeaTools.

  10. No. The computer is freezing up whenever it runs. I have checked for viruses with MBAM and SAS. There were no reports of viruses. It still freezes up. I will get you the results of the health tab of HDTune as soon as I can.

    Oh you meant that *Redface
Yes, a failing hard drive can cause freezes, BSODs, data corruption or even Windows not booting at all.

  12. Okay

  14. Okay. It has apparently finished.

Right now it's at Automatic Repair.

It says "Your PC did not start correctly". "Press "Restart" to restart your PC, which can sometimes fix the problem. You can also press "Advanced options" to try other options to repair your PC".

    What should I do?

The last time I saw that message, in 1 of my VMs last week, I did following to get back in Windows in order
    • 3x startup repair with reboot between each,
    • 2x chkdsk C: /r
    • 1x startup repair
    • Reboot from the troubleshooting options
