Windows 10: BSOD stop code VIDEO_DRXKRNL_FATAL_ERROR during games or when HDMI is connected

Hi, I just got factory reset MSI laptop from a friend and from the beginning I was having issues with the graphics drivers. At first the laptop always used the integrated graphics and not the Nvidia GTX 1060... in addition to that I would have screen flickering, followed by the BSOD VIDEO_DRXKRNL_FATAL_ERROR, when I connected an HDMI cable.With another factory reset and reinstalling up to date drivers from Gforce Experience i managed to get games to use the 1060 instead of integrated and it worked for a few weeks if i didnt connect HDMI.Currently i get the same BSOD error plus another on occa

Unpredictable BSODs with different stop codes

Yeah that part of the post was in response to the steps zbook was having me take, not anything to do with the reasoning behind connecting to WiFi. In his steps, he asked me to reinstall the LAN driver. Is the LAN adapter just the Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (2) I219-V?

 

HDMI connections stopped connecting

So far I have not found much that is relevant, by which I mean (a) deals with a working set up which then fails (b) deals with the problem being with the receiving device, ie. the TV. The TV Manual both digital and paper do not have much info on HDMI and nothing on troubleshooting its failure. Do you have any suggestions regarding this, or where I might find it? The Toshiba TV is about 2 years old. My next step is to see if Toshiba can help

 

Sudden BSOD errors on Laptop after HDMI connection

Hi everyone,

I've been having BSOD errors all of a sudden on my laptop (Asus ROG Strix GL553VW /i5-6300HQ/8GB RAM/GTX 960M)

The BSODs would occur randomly or when gaming with the stop codes 'IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL' and 'DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL', and my dump analysis programs indicate 'ntoskrnl.exe' and occasionally 'intelppm.sys' as the cause. Also, I'm seeing lots of artifacting and graphical distortions on the screen, and playing games causes the BSOD to appear soon after launch or just a crash to desktop. Sometimes the system will freeze up and be unrecoverable except with a hard reset.

I'm not sure if it's related, but the issue began soon after I unplugged my laptop from an HDMI cable to my TV while on battery power. Also, disabling intelppm via regedit, booting into Safe Mode or keeping the HDMI cable connected seem to make the issue disappear.

Things I've tried:

• Windows Upgrade
  
• Running CPU and Intel Integrated Graphics stress tests with XTU
  
• Testing RAM for several clean passes with Windows Memory Diagnostics, Memtest86 and OCCT
  
• Reinstalling graphics drivers
  
• Running SFC, DISM and CHKDSK commands
  
• Reinstalling the original drivers from Asus Support
  

I'm at a complete loss for what to do, and I'll upload the dump files as soon as I can. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
