Windows 10: BSOD when starting Photoshop

Good evening all!

I have a nasty problem with my laptop. In this case an Asus N750jk with an 850 evo SSD as primary drive.

When I got the laptop the original windows 8.1 was installed and I installed an SSD using the samsung migration software. No problems. I installed Photoshop CC 2014 (an illegal version) and everything was fine. The official windows 10 upgrade passed flawless. Photoshop was still working fine. The new build came, still no problems, UNTIL! About a week ago (I haven't updated anything, my laptop crashes when I fire up Photoshop! BSOD (kernel security check failure) and no restart!

I googled the problem and was under the impression I had to update my drivers and so on... Knowing I had been installing and uninstalling various other programs and the "windows.old" was still on the SSD, I decided to do a clean install, also hoping that my BSOD upon starting Photoshop would disappear.

After doing the clean install (using a secure erase from the samsung magician software and an official windows 10 download) I installed Photoshop again. And yet again the dreaded "kernel security check failure" BSOD comes back everytime I start the program... *cry I've already installed all the latest drivers and so on, so I'm beginning to think my memory has gone bad?

Just hope someone here knows what it is since I primarily use the laptop for my photo's!

I might suggest to install the 361.75 driver rather than downgrade the driver.

Uninstall any and all illegal software. We do not assist with illegal software problems.

 

Okay, I'm sorry. I'll uninstall the newer versions! I've still got a working CS6 and I'll first try that!

So, Tonight I finally had the time to install my legal version of photoshop. I did a clean install, so no traces of the old software were there anymore. But still a 'kernel security check failure' appeared! *cry

I made a new log and included it...

I really hope you guys can help with this!

Please right click on the start icon and select Command prompt administrator, give admin permissions and copy/paste this into the window that opens and press enter sfc /scannow . If you decide to type it in, please notice the space between the sfc and the /. We want it to say no integrity violations were found. If it says there where corrupt files that could not be repaired, please reboot and run it again. You may have to run it 3 times with reboots in between each time.

Also, please see if there are windows 10 drivers from Asus for your specific Laptop. If so, download them, uninstall your current drivers and install the new ones.

 

Thanks for the quick reply! Running the test right now! In the mean time I've also ran windows own memory test, just to be sure. Test results came back saying there were no problems found. Ran all the tests 2 times in the hardest way possible.

 

After the first run, SFC came back saying no integrity violations were found. When I did the clean install (2 days ago) I checked the Asus site and didn't have much drivers for windows 10 for this specific laptop. I installed every one Asus has listed for my laptop. The rest came with windows itself.

 

Do a search on your computer and see what program is using sniffer.exe.

 

Good evening! Tonight I had time to do a search for sniffer... Turns out, I had to make "hidden maps" visible to find it... *092 I found out that sniffer was a program that came with the illegal software I had installed before. After locating all the hidden maps that weren't deleted when I uninstalled all the previous software, I deleted all that and now, finally, Photoshop is up and running again!

Thank you very much for your help, and, I'm sorry for having been such a dumbass to use illegal software... *Redface If it wasn't for your support, I wouldn't have found all of this...

I hope it solves your problems. I know it was not blamed exactly, it was listed in a few of your dump files. I'm glad you found it and hope it solves the problems. If not, come back and we'll see what else we can find.
