BSOD - bugcheck 0x0000009f

We appreciate your reply. Since you're also having issues with the Creators Update, we'd like to know the current build and version of your Windows 10. According to your description, it seems to be an issue with a specific driver that is more likely related
to the display driver. We'd also like to know if there are changes on your Windows 10 after the troubleshooting steps that is provided by MVP SpiritX.

Kindly get back to us for further assistance.

To Xylee:

Thank you for your response Xylee Del,

Here are the answers to your questions:

1. I had an SSD fail on me about 8 months ago and so I reformatted another SSD that I had in a laptop I wasn't using and then bought/ installed Windows Education edition. I then went through all of the setup options, reinstalled my drivers for my motherboard
and then went through every driver in device manager and updated them manually. I also then ran Windows Update and updated everything through that as well. I found that I have been having issues with the creator update 1703 and it will not install. I believe
that might be unrelated though.

2. I am running BitDefender's free AV for its real time protection. I also have Malwarebytes, but I use the free version which is just for scanning.

I also checked event viewer and there are 2, sometimes 1 distributedCOM errors that I get. I've also noticed that BSOD seems to happen when I turn the computer on or when I wake it from sleep after a day or two.

To SpiritX:

Once I get some time at home I will look into everything that you've posted for me, try it, and get back to you with the results. Thank you for taking the time to respond with all of those resources!

Code: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9f) A driver has failed to complete a power IRP within a specific time.
I suspect your WiFi is turning off or reducing power while sleeping. Go into Control Panel, Power Options and set WiFi to Maximum Performance. See if that helps:

5. Hi Rich,

Thanks much for the quick response. Unfortunately it seems like Wireless Adapter Settings don't exist on the Surface Book under Power Options. Any thoughts?

Hmmmm. Only the last dump shows the power irp problem. All the others are Bugcheck 19C
Code: Use !analyze -v to get detailed debugging information. BugCheck 19C, {10, ffffa30b161bc7c0, ffffa30b153af750, ffffa30b1fac8640} Probably caused by : ntkrnlmp.exe ( nt!PopWatchdogWorker+11a )
Is it possible to overclock a Surface? I see this:
Code: 2: kd> !sysinfo cpuspeed CPUID: "Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6600U CPU @ 2.60GHz" MaxSpeed: 2600 CurrentSpeed: 2808
Which shows it being overclocked. Could be perfectly normal but just in case. If you are over clocking, set to nominal and test.

9. Hi Ztruker. I am not overclocking it (didn't even know it was possible!). How would that be controlled within Windows?

It would be controlled in BIOS. It may be the Surface automatically adjusts the CPU speed depending on load and usage.

Since I know nothing about the Surface I have nothing else I can think of top help at this point.
It has to have some kind of WiFi capability but it doesn't seem to have any power options for it.
