BSOD while playing games on Windows 10

Good evening. Recently since upgrading to Windows 10 from 8 on my spare laptop, I've been running into the BSOD while playing Heroes of the Storm and World of Warcraft. This occurs somewhat randomly, and has even occurred while just browsing the internet. I've attached the logs as directed in the sticky. Any help diagnosing this issue would be much appreciated.

    :)

These were all related to directX. Remove your current video driver and install the newest driver available

Completely remove the current driver and install the newest driver available. For instructions on how to do that Read all about updating drivers by my partner JMH3143 here Updating a driver.

Hello, ACrandall. I will try to help you. I have looked over about the last 6 dumps. This is what they say.

Code: WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (124) A fatal hardware error has occurred. Parameter 1 identifies the type of error source that reported the error. Parameter 2 holds the address of the WHEA_ERROR_RECORD structure that describes the error conditon. Arguments: Arg1: 0000000000000000, Machine Check Exception Arg2: ffffe0006ad5b028, Address of the WHEA_ERROR_RECORD structure. Arg3: 00000000be000000, High order 32-bits of the MCi_STATUS value. Arg4: 000000000008117a, Low order 32-bits of the MCi_STATUS value. IMAGE_VERSION: FAILURE_BUCKET_ID: 0x124_GenuineIntel_MEMORY__UNKNOWN BUCKET_ID: 0x124_GenuineIntel_MEMORY__UNKNOWN PRIMARY_PROBLEM_CLASS: 0x124_GenuineIntel_MEMORY__UNKNOWN[/quote] All of your dumps that I looked at are an 0X124 stop code. That means a piece of hardware is failing/has failed or that a driver is causing a piece of hardware to act as though it is failing. But, rarely does it give us a hint. About half of your dumps mention 'Unknown Memory'.

Please go to your last post and in the bottom left corner click 'My System Specs'. there is a link there to update your system specs, click it and fill them all out in as much detail as possible. Please list Manufacturer and Model, and list Desktop or Laptop. If it is an OEM, please list the Manufacturer and Model number. Please be sure to list your PSU and CPU cooler. If you would like to know what we would like, please click 'My System Specs' at the bottom left of this post and see mine. Your detailed system specs will help us diagnose the problem better.

Your dumps mention memory and memory problems are most important for what I am doing, I need you to run memtest86+.

    Please Run Memtest86+

Information Please download from this site only Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool in the middle of the page are the Download links, you can download the ISO.zip or the Auto USB Flash Drive installer.zip Extract the Zip file. If you chose the ISO image, burn it to a CD using Windows Disk Image Burner or any Image burner you may have. If you downloaded the Auto USB installer, extract it, insert your USB 2.0 Flash Drive and take note of the drive letter. Run the installer, select the Flash Drive Letter, check the format box and press next. It will install memtest86+ to a flash drive. You can use either V4.20 or V5.01. Boot from your selected media. If you use V5.01 it will tell you to press certain buttons at the start, please press no buttons. The test will begin on it's own and continue to run until you stop it. It needs to run for 8 complete passes or until you receive an error. If you receive an error, stop the test. Even 1 error is a fail. Each pass tests a different part of the ram and each of the 10 tests in each pass tests something different. It takes a minimum of 8 passes to completely test the ram, more passes are better. It is quite a long test and will take several hours depending on how much ram you have. Due to the time length it is best to run overnight. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you very much for the reply. I have updated my system information some more. Please let me know if there's any other specific information that you believe would be pertinent to fixing the issue. I've loaded the memtest onto a thumb drive, and I will run it this evening and reply with the results in the morning. Thanks again.

The only thing we may need is your hard drive. Just let me know the results and we'll go from there. Thanks .

I can't find any specifics about the hard drive other than the fact that it's 750GB @7200 RPM

Other than that, I can't get Memtest to work. I've tried both V4.20 and V5.01, neither worked. I used the USB version on a 32GB Sandisk cruzer thumb drive, and followed the directions of installing it to the thumb drive, and formating it when prompted to. Both times when I attempted to set it as the primary boot device in BIOS it would save that preference, but still just boot to normal Windows 10. When I attempted to do a boot override to boot directly from the thumb drive, the screen would just flash momentarily and then return to BIOS.

Did you download the auto installer for USB Key? That has always worked for me. Do you have a UEFI BIOS?

Yes, I double checked that I did download and install the USB auto-installer version. I'm unsure about the 2nd question, but when I looked at my boot options in BIOS the USB Drive option came up as 'UEFI: SanDIsk Cruzer....' so I'm assuming that's a yes

In the boot override section, you will usually have 2 options, Sandisk Cruizer and UEFI Sandisk Cruiser. Which ever one you used, try the other one. I went through that last night with another type of bootable USB drive. It wouldn't boot one way but would the other way. Other than that I don't know unless you download the ISO and burn it to CD.
