BSOD wont boot, WnBug says powerstate failure for WufRD module

Hi, I upgraded to Win 10 5 days ago. I updated my Acronis True Image to 2016 version while as Win 10. No other changes. Re my multiple drives, C drive is SATA, the IDE is used for archive data. The other 2 SATA drives - see note further down re RAID.

Yesterday while using the machine (machine name Asus64) it crashed while changing screen view (I have dual screen enabled). On trying to reboot, I can get to Win 10 login, then on entering pswd it stalls for a couple mins then blue screens.

It blue screens if I try to use safemode or any repair utility or use command prompt, the only info I can view is CMOS/BIOS setup.

I hooked my Asus64 C drive into another machine to access the Minidump file. So I cannot do your utility for my computer info. I have filled in the details in my profile.

I ran WinBg on the other machine for the 4 crash dump files, I paste in the last, they all say same - the WfudRd driver is waiting to synchronise with the PNP subsystem . . . because of another driver misbehaving ??

For the past 3 months, I have had a constant issue with the NVidia driver crashing and Windows (7 and 10) recovering the crash. It is the latest driver version, they issued an update about a month ago. There is no Windows log event for this.

I did read in one forum that Acronis was a likely culprit. I have deleted the Acronis program folder manually using the other machine, but before modify the Asus64 registry by importing the hive, removing TrueImage and its load on boot, and exporting back, I wanted to check if Acronis is a possible problem. I also read the Asus RAID drivers can cause problems.

In the WinDb data below, I also ran a stack trace and expanded the faulting module thread. To my modest IT skills, I see no obvious culprit. The WudfRD driver covers a host of functions.

As an additional note, I did have 2 of my SATA drives in the machine on RAID, but, on Aug 11 after a normal shutdown, it booted next day with blue screen saying boot sector missing, giving the only option as using the Win 7 install disc to run repair. I did that, it restarted and I found that it had destroyed the RAID array and assigned new letters to the drives. It also changed the system date to 7th Jan 2007. On looking at the Event log as it shut down that night, I saw that for 3 events one second before shutdown complete, the system date changed to 7th Jan 2007 then back to current date., then while booting next morning, it started with current date and changed to 7th Jan 2007

Rather than re-installing Win 7 I upgraded to Win 10. I left the 2 drives that were RAID unused in Win 10, on shows as an unknown drive.

I know the machine is getting on a bit and has been worked hard with total reliability, much of my work as graphics. Its due a re-build later this year, can't do it now.

The delay between Aug 11th and installing Window last weekend was due to a house move on Aug 12 !!!! Great timing *Sad
I hope someone can help. Rgds Jonathan

BSOD wont boot, WnBug says powerstate failure for WufRD module

    Hi nextenso,

    Welcome to the 10forums.

Please put the output of windbg in code tags, this so your post is clearer with the explanation.

Have you accessed command prompt from your pc or from rescue media?

Hi, thanks for the reply. I will edit the post to do the tags.

I cannot get the machine to do anything, I can get into the recovery section but any option there from reset system to command prompt gives the same BSOD and power state failure msg.

I can only read the C drive data by hooking it into another machine as an auxiliary drive and using a file explorer - PowerDesk.

Is there a possibility to boot from rescue media?

Hi, re rescue media, Win 10 was a downloaded update from Msoft. I was about to download an iso to created rescue media, but, can't do that now for that machine until it boots operationally again.

I cant clone the C drive and run that as C drive in the other machine, as the whole operating spec for the 2 machines totally different.

You can create rescue media from the other pc by downloading the ISO.

    Hi, yes.

It wont let me run the internal DVD drive, but, CMOS sees the USB drives, so I may get it to boot from that.

Thanks. Will take a few hours, revert back tomorrow.

Hi, having created the rescue media to flash drive, I reconnected the C drive back to my machine, booted up . . . and it all ran normally, no BSOD.

The only change was to have deleted Acronis 2016 from the driver when hooked up to the other machine, having read the thread linked to below.

So, I guess the whole problem was Acronis. There are many other posts about Acronis causing BSOD on Win 7, 8 and 10.

I will be asking them for a refund !!!! And, I have lost 2 and half days work looking for a solution !!! Not to mention stress !!!

This I hope will help others with similar problems.

Thanks Axe0, and for your input.

For general consumption, I will post to this thread any comment I get back to my complaint to Acronis *Mad
