Windows 10: BSODs - Not able to reset

Hi - need advice on a severe case of BSOD. Possibly as a result of virus? but no obvious source. Expanded memory hardware 2 weeks ago from 16 to 32, but this has worked perfectly fine until now. Anyhow - suddenly we keep getting a broad assortment of BSODs. Tried to reset PC locally/from cloud, but keep getting interrupted by new BSs. Tried making an installation media USB. This seemed to work until installation was almost complete, but ended up stranded with a message that Windows could not be installed. Would be grateful for any advice.

In post 26 there were steps listed to fix the operating system corruption.
Are you able to follow them?
In post 29 was the suggested dism repair command.

 

Critical Process Died BSOD on Startup

Hello all,

I just recently started having this issue. When I boot the PC, it immediately goes to this BSOD. Auto repair obviously wasn't able to fix it. I can't really post a crash dump as I can't even get into Windows. I don't really know what this error means, but here is a list of the troubleshooting I've done thus far:

-Re-image computer
-System restore to the earliest restore point where I know the issue was not happening
-Numerous command prompts (sfc /scannow, chkdsk C: /f, chkdsk C: /r, DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth)
-Reset PC (not able to reset, just gives error that says "There was a problem resetting your PC. No changes were made.")

Those are all the troubleshooting steps I could find through Google-fu. Please let me know if you have further suggestions.

Random BSOD while browsing internet


BitDefender is nothing special. mwac.sys causes BSODs anywhere.

In that very thread, the suggested action apparently worked.

The storage and network filters of any third party antivirus can cause BSODs. Neither MBAM nor BitDefender is any special. For a regular antivirus, it may be shifted to an alternative; but MBAM has no alternative. So a clean install of the said program is the most feasible first step.
As far as the first step is not failing, it is better to not think for the second step. Because the BSODs are not universal, failure at the first step is not universal; and success at the second step is also not universal.
That is why I posted that my suggestion may work, or may not. Let us see where it goes.
