Windows 10: Bug when switching default browser

Hi all!


When switching my default browser from Edge to literally anything else it encourages me not to, stating that Edge is "new, fast, and built for Windows 10". While that statement is arguably at least 66% true (congrats on being more honest than most Microsoft advertising!), it neglects to mention that Edge is such a steaming pile of Microsoft that it actually uses Bing. Like seriously, it's so incredibly bad that it uses Bing (for when AOL search is just *too* helpful) as its default search engine and no one even says anything because we just assume it's supposed to be that way on account of both products being absolute garbage.


Also, in the default browser part it explicitly states "Recommended for Windows 10" under Microsoft Edge. Don't get me wrong - Windows 10 is a comically inept attempt to pass off Adware as an OS so it's probably appropriate that the default browser is literally the Edge of browsers, but couldn't you aim a little higher? I mean doesn't it bother you to think that your OS is actually recommending something so goddamned atrocious that most users see it as little more than a way to download a good browser (and it even fails at that)? I know I'd be mortified.

Any browser.

Already did the steps you suggested. It's some kind of bug where it's impossible to set a default browser at all.

I heard elsewhere from one other user that it seems to be a problem with upgrading to 10 on the SP3. Sounds very specifc.

  In desktop search, type default app settings and select the result.
  
• 
  Under Web browser, click the current browser (EDGE).
  
• 
  Choose Internet Explorer and set it as
  default.

To set Internet Explorer/Edge as a default browser, I suggest you to follow the below given steps:

• Press Windows key and type Default Program in search and hit enter.
• Select "Set your default programs"
• Click on “Internet Explorer" or “Edge”.
• Select "Set this program as default” and Click OK.
