Windows 10: Bugs that I have experienced in the Windows 10 Anniversary Update

back up data, remove all drives except your primary drive (usually this will be the "C" drive, remove all usb peripherals and drives except keyboard and mouse, sanitize drive and prep for OS installation (boot loader install, format, and partition the drive for the OS to be installed on.

Using MS diskpart commands... TO WIPE YOUR SSD use this third party software: (MAGIC PARTED) Use of Magic Parted and Secure Wipe (UEFI BIOS) – The Unofficial Windows 10 Reinstallation Guide

There are also third party apps or software that will also have the results you are trying to achieve.

 

Hi guys,

Just gave the AU a go on one of my machines (after performing an image backup of the system partition with Acronis!).

The install went okay, but after the final restart, then entire system seems to be running so slowly - freezing when I click anywhere (start button, taskbar, right-click on the screen).

I tried a few restarts and shutdown, but no luck. Disk activity seems to be through the roof too, but even getting into task manager takes an eternity.

I've restore my image backup and all is well. I'm going to perform a clean install from the AU .iso and see if that behaves any better.

At the moment I'm also running a test-install of Linux Mint 18 xfce on one of my other machines and I have to say I'm seriously considering jumping ship and running any of my 'must-have' Windows applications in a VM under Linux.

Update: I did a Clean Install of Windows 10 on both machines that have been updated. The Clean Installs did not help, as the computer (Desktop) still had issues freezing up. My Laptop is the only one that seems to be stable. I will attempt to run a SFC /SCANNOW on the Desktop to see if it finds any corruption and run the DISM tool to resolve some of the issues.

But I really don't know any other solutions to try.

The Desktop is an Acer Aspire XC-603G that is compatible of running Windows 10.

I was doing searches today for info. You may want to browse thru some of the above results.

 

Not sure if this will help but I right clicked on the Start button and clicked on Device Manager and ran the auto update on everything even though there weren't any yellow flags and it did update one of them. I also updated the firmware on my router and things seem fine. I also went to Dell support and let it run scans to detect issues and driver updates it found and corrected em.
