Windows 10: Build 17763 could be the Windows 10 October 2018 Update RTM candidate

Windows 10 Build 17763 is now available for Slow Ring Insiders and the rumour has it that this could be the RTM candidate for Windows 10 October 2018 Update. The same build number 17763 is shared across all other devices including the Xbox One and HoloLens.

The availability of Build 17763 in the Slow Ring is a major step towards becoming an RTM candidate for the upcoming October 2018 Update.

It’s worth noting that the Build 17763 will be promoted to the Release Preview Ring by next week if it’s the RTM candidate. If this particular build makes its way to the Release Preview Ring, Microsoft will start publishing cumulative updates for the build to address the minor bugs if discovered.

As expected, Microsoft hasn’t said a word about the RTM candidate of Windows 10 October 2018 Update. In the release notes, Microsoft has once again clarified that the company is not yet done with the October 2018 Update.

In short, Build 17763 could be the RTM candidate because:

• It’s stable and fast enough for daily use.
• Available in Fast and Slow Ring.
• The same build number is shared across Xbox and Hololens.

Windows 10 October 2018 Update is arriving soon


Windows 10 October 2018 Update (also known as Redstone 5 and version 1809) will become available for the general public by mid-October. The feature-rich Windows 10 update is projected to be finalized by the end of the month and the RTM candidate will be officially announced in the coming days.

If the reports are believed to be true, Windows 10 October 2018 Update RTM candidate will be signed off by September 25 and it’ll be released to the Insiders in the Release Preview Ring later this month.

In case you’re wondering, the build in the question comes with fixes and improvements for Microsoft Edge, PowerShell, Bluetooth audio and other core components of the OS. It’s just a typical build but it’s stable enough and you can install it on your daily driver if you’re okay with some bugs.

As noted above, Windows 10 October 2018 Update will begin rolling out to the customers in the first half of October and it’s likely that the update will be pushed out to users in stages.
