As above. **** is wrong with Microsoft? This was fixed once and now it's back again. When left alone my Surface Book gets REALLY HOT and it's always RuntimeBroker.exe using 100% of my CPU. How do I kill it?

RuntimeBroker consumes high CPU while running GrooveMusic

    Hi community,

    I am using a Surface Pro 3 with i5 and 256 GB.

I upgradet from Windows 8.1 Pro to Windows 10. Windows 10 is in lots of points much better than Windows 8.1 but one point really annoys me: When I run GrooveMusic the RuntimeBroker consumes up to 36% my CPU.

I looked in forums but none of the answers there helped. Neither the registry hack, nor disabling tips about Cortana.

Someone wrote in some post, there would be help on its way with 'build 10525'. Is that true and I just have to wait? Or was 'build 10525' already released?

EDIT: As I've just seen do several other processes also consume more CPU if GrooveMusic is opened and used. So GrooveMusic takes all in all up to ca. 50% of CPU while iTunes takes just ca. 1%.

Thanks in advance for any help.

  3. RuntimeBroker consumes high CPU while running GrooveMusic

As of the latest Groove update (version 10.16092.1031.0), this high CPU usage problem has mostly gone away for me. RuntimeBroker will use a lot of CPU for a short period of time after Groove starts up (as its syncing the OneDrive library), then it will stop
using the CPU and playback will use minimal CPU power. Even if I minimize the Groove app, CPU usage still stays low unlike before this update. This update allows me to minimize Groove, enjoy my OneDrive library, and not waste CPU power and battery life.

I observed this both on my desktop and my Surface Pro 3, both running fully updated Windows 10 Anniversary Update.
