    Built in device failure prevent windows 10 update to 20H2


    I have a Dell Inspiron laptop with Windows 10 Pro. ver. 1909 (Build 18363.1198) with a dead ATM Radeon 7700M card.
    To be able to use the machine I have uninstalled the driver for this card and disabled it in the device manager, this the laptop works fine.

    Tried to update to Windows 20H2 through Windows 10 Update Assistant, got all green, but failed because the update program downloads, installs and enables the dead card and the result is a BSOD in the first restart, and when restarting after the BSOD the update program rolls back the changes and I'm back to Windows ver.1909.

    Is there any work around? Can I stop the update program from enabling this card when restarting?

    Thank you for trying to help , i did tried your suggestion but it did not work :/ , nothing seems to make it work on Windows 10 Fall Creators Update 1709. In the meantime i have bought a new SoundBlasterX AE-5 and it did installed flawlessly , no problems whatsoever. it is up to Creative ( drivers ) and Microsoft ( bug fix ) to fix this huge bugs with Audio.

    Update History is not showing v.20H2

    I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this . . .

    This is normal behavior in Windows 10, typically when you install a Feature Update like 20h2, the update history is wiped, this is to prevent the user from trying to uninstall an update that was prior to the Feature Update, which would de-stabilize Windows
    10, the list should start building again, when some updates are applied to version 20h2 . . .
