Windows 10: built-in SD card reader driver error

Discus and support built-in SD card reader driver error in Windows 10 Drivers and Hardware to solve the problem; The SD card is recognized and I'm ask what the computer wants me to do with it.     The SD card is recognized and I'm ask what the computer wants me to do with it. But I can't drag anything onto it or download pictures from another one. When I try the message comes up that there's a problem with the driver. So I click "Fix driver". Then I'm told it is working---Until I put the card in again, then it all starts over. I bought a new SD card thinking maybe it was possible that I had damaged 4 cards, not so. So, I've updated the driver numerous times and turned the PC off and on numerous times and I'm still receiving the error message: 0x800701B1 Help please

    Boot from SD card Reader?


    It likely depends on what the BIOS thinks the device is? If it shows up like a USB thumb drive it should work. If it requires drivers to even be detected it won't.
    I know I wish I could boot from the built in SD Card reader in my laptop but the BIOS does not even see it. It's not listed as a boot option even with a bootable SD card in it.

    Thanks guys. It looks like it basically comes down to what the BIOS thinks of the card reader, and if it even sees it.


    That's basically one of the questions there... since the machine has a card reader built in, can they boot from an SD card?

    As stated, it just comes down to what the BIOS thinks and does.

    SD card/SD card reader no longer working

    Hi. New to this so not sure of category.
    I have a Lenovo G70. Windows 10, 64bit
    My SD card reader has stopped working.
    In Device Manager, the SD card is not listed.
    I can't format the card as it is not listed.
    I cannot locate the card at all as it is not listed anywhere.
    I've tried chkdsk and get 'Cannot open volume for direct access'
    I don't even have the icon displaying when micro SD card is inserted.
    It did work previously but I had errors. Scanning and fixing did not help.
    I place the SD card in my Android phone and it works fine.
    Please help!
